I respect and agree with both sides in this particular debate ... but I have to go with Charles, who makes to me the best point of all: conservatives CANNOT regain the ear of the people, and lead the conversation about government in this country, unless we're willing and able to compromise where compromise is the best move on the chessboard - and, here, I think it is. Holding the House, but not the Senate or the White House means we as conservatives have, as Charles explained, constitutional constraints that we have to abide by - whether Democrats do, or not.

If we can't PROVE to the American people that we're the adults, and that we can be reasonable, then we run the risk of having 4 more years of Obama AND the minimalization of the Republican Party in this country for years.

NEITHER of those are risks I am willing to take, and I would hope others feel the same way.

The very fact that we hold strong helps others wake up. This is an artificial deadline. I am not going to be a victim of extortion any more.
