Did Hamilton's incident with Di Resta merit a penalty?

I can't believe 48% of people believe this merited a penalty. Lewis was 3/4 of the way through the manoeuvre before he even saw Di Resta. In my opinion the only reason he received a penalty was because it was the same steward he abused in Monaco, this seems like retribution for those comments to me. Di Resta didn't even need to leave the track, the other drivers that passed him didn't. Sure Lewis did impede them slightly but that is always going to be the case when you are in the middle of the track facing the wrong way.
Also James do you not think Hamilton is best qualified to deem what is a safe manoeuvre in that situation? After all he was the one facing the wrong way with cars hurtling towards him. Personally i quite enjoyed watching him spin the car round, i k now it's relatively standard for F1 drivers but that doesn't make it any less impressive.

that's a stupid comment, nothing to do with colour (we have to assume that there isn't racism otherwise we'll scrutinise everything!). Had he waited or spun the other way no problem, but what if he didn't manage to spin on such a tight turn? he might have ended up right on the racing line. He was desperate not to lose too much ground and i understand why he did it, but it deserved a penalty, he effectively drove back towards the traffic and then spun almost onto the racing line forcing another driver to leave the track to avoid an accident (yes Di Resta could've got through, but he couldn't guarantee that Hamilton wouldn't end up on his line!).

I hate to say it but,"its all about the colour eh,jealous inept honky's just can't handle the jandal when it comes to a fast black man eh,it requires maturity & a keen sense of sportsmanship.

Totally did, if he spun the other way it would have been fine, but he spun onto the racing line in front of oncoming cars. It doesn't matter if there was room for Di Resta, he still spun into the path of Di Resta, which if Di Resta didn't see him may have caused a bad accident.

Just because he didn't get a penalty in the GP2 race doesn't mean he doesn't deserve one.

No because after he flicked the car round he left more room on the outside for cars to pass. Paul went off the track but he did not need to, Lewis had left room.
