How do we discern that individuals are truly called by God and without personal motives?

WE don't! We let God handle that. (Matthew 7:1)

We need to first observe if they are living a righteous life. And pray about it. (James 1: 19-27)

Pray! Pray! Pray! For the leading of the Holy Spirit. For God's will. For the person feeling the call of God. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-21)
