If they remake "Field of Dreams" in fifty years, which story of baseball's yesteryear should be in that "People will come" speech?
"And they'll find they have reserved seats in the All-You-Can-Eat Section. Next to them is a guy who's put down five hot dogs by the second inning."
"They'll remember how they used to say that these guys make more in a season then most people make in a lifetime. They'll marvel at how that's still true, even with 50 years inflation working against the players.
"We won't mind if you look around--It's only 100 dollars per person.' They'll turn around to each other and murmur what a frickin bargain considering these are ghosts and all.
"This field, this game, is part of our past, Ray. It reminds us of all that was once good, then sort of good, then strikey, then steroids, then good again...mostly."
