    He couldn't even carry Kurt Warner's jockstrap...LOL

  • Mute617 - 13 years ago

The Giants and Patriots went head to head in the Super Bowl. The Patriots came in 2nd. It was more defense and a lucky catch by Tyree on a BAD THROW by Eli.

  • Mea - 13 years ago

I think Eli is a good qb just not ELITE! Does he know the definition of ELITE?

  • dave - 13 years ago

Eli went head-to-head with Brady in the Super Bowl. Brady came in second.

  • Mute617 - 13 years ago

So is Barry Sanders not considered elite in his time? He never got a ring, nor a Super Bowl MVP, so OBVIOUSLY he wasn't that good. Had nothing to do with the TEAM around him. No.. . just like Eli getting a ring had NOTHING to do with the TEAM around him.

Getting a ring and winning the MVP of the Super Bowl by default because of your position, doesn't make you elite. Consistantly putting up great numbers, even with garbage around you does.

2 straight 4000 yard seasons (only 2 in his whole career) came when he threw it 30 to 50 times more than any other year. Another thing going up along with yards is INTs not to mention the 5 to 13 fumbles a year. 9 seems to be the average. How often does Brady fumble? Grossman fumbled a lot.

1 pro bowl. 1. Yeah, 1 in 7 years is REAL elite

    What a joke topic.

Go look up Grossmans stats his Super Bowl year

    Now look up Eli's

Is Grossman elite? Neither is Eli.

  • Mute617 - 13 years ago

Don't give me this "he has a ring and was named MVP" crap! He only won the MVP because you can't give it to the entire defense (which is where the MVP should've gone), and the NFL loves the QB position, thus Eli got it. That season he put up extremely similar numbers to Rex Grossman in the Bears Super Bowl run. Would you say Grossman is elite? No cuz the Bears lost and he didn't get MVP. Imagine the Bears won, and Grossman was the default MVP because the defense as a whole shut down the Colts. Would you THEN consider Grossman eilite? No, so why Eli? Cuz he's a Manning? Probably. Cuz he plays in NY? Probably. Because he's elite? Too bad there isn't a WHAT?!? (holding back laughter) Hell No! option because THAT should be the answer to this poll.

    Eli the last two 4,000+ yards each season and 27 and 31 tds....his 6th and 7th years(QB rating 93&85)
    Tom Brady in his 6th and 7th years...4,100 and 26(QB rate 92)...3,500 and 24tds(qb rate 87)

Is he in the same conversation as Brady? Yep

    Now compare those to Peyton's 6th and 7th. 4,200 & 29 tds and 4,500 & 49 tds...is Brady in the same conversation as Peyton?

Eli has a Superbowl and been to the playoffs in 4 out of 7 years and that was in a Division with McNabb and Romo(playoff QBs).

Who was Brady's competition in Buffalo, New york and Miami his first 7 years? Brady had a cake walk compared to what Eli inherited. In the 5 years preceding Brady's arrival, the Pats had four >.500 seasons......5 years prior to Eli only 2 above.500.....(better team surrounding Brady)

Eli is elite, if Brady's elite.

  • Mike Mero - 13 years ago

Super winning qb, check! Experienced in the playoffs, check! Handles the pressure in New York , check! Sick receiving corps, check! I'll take the guy who has won before over all these guys who put up numbers without getting it done in January every time.

People love to bash Eli but heres some observations from someone who has seen every Giants game for 15 yrs. Eli is a winner period. His stats stack up against almost anyone. He is of good character. He has a Superbowl ring and MVP. He has never missed a game. In 07 he played thru a seperated shoulder! Last year with his highest int total he lost reciver after reciever multiple OL to injury all year long. Yes he did force things trying to make plays but they played WR's late in the year that were on the street one week before they played a game. Give him a break. Look at it this way, if Vick were to lose Djax, Maclin, and 3 OL starters how would he do? If Peyton lost R. Wayne Jeff Saturday Dallas Clark how would he do? Brady if he lost 3 starters on the o line you dont think his stats would suffer. Big Ben yes he has 2 SB rings but his first was a poor game that the D saved him and the 2nd while he played better without the D scoring they lose. Philip Rivers the media woulda coulda shoulda QB has done NOTHING! His team every year is the one of the most talented teams in the AFC and they cant do anything except beat the Raiders and they couldnt even do that last yr. There is an argument for the QB's mentioned but other than that what team out there wouldnt want ELI as thier QB? Even if you put him at the bottom of this lest that makes him the 6th best QB in the league. Dont bash because he a Manning dont bash because you dont like the Giants be objective.

  • OBTB - 13 years ago

I say no, and I was at Ole Miss when he was our QB. I love the guy but no, he's not elite.

  • Andy - 13 years ago

What ElI should have said was, I think I am good, but I try to get better every day... But he's stupid ....... which proves my point.. he aint ELITE.

Listen he is middle of the road at best, had a great defense and some WR's that would go get his poorly ill-advised thrown footballs to make him look better the year they won the superbowl. What happened when he lost Plaxico... Eli's ints went up... Plaxico saved his ass so many times.. ElI got lucky....

  • cowboys fan - 13 years ago

If it wasn't for his defense n running game he's just another qb. No were near Tom Brady.

  • BQ - 13 years ago

I understand Eli's argument. What's he gonna say? "No, I suck." At times, he has what I like to call Jim Kelly disease. Symptoms are perfectly thrown passes that aren't caught by the intended receiver. He also has a SB ring and the SB MVP award won in a the big game against Brady. Take away Brady's O-line and he's just a good QB, not a great one. Now, on the other hand, Eli is just a quiet guy. He isn't a loud, commanding leader like the other Manning or Rivers. So I can see why some would so no, he isn't elite. But I can't get over a SB victory against the nearly perfect Pats. Watching the Giants play them in the last regular game of the season, you could see the Giants playing to the same level as the Pats, matching them point for point. It was a classic case of running out of time, not losing.

  • Ios - 13 years ago

Elite = would mean top 10% ..... in the NFL 32 starting QB's, so 10% is 3.2 or 3QB's qualify as Elite. Hmmm Number of QB's better than ELI in the NFL right now? I count 12 (see below list)He is the 3rd best qb in the NFC bEAST no not elite.

you can debate maybe two of them, so maybe he might be the 13-15 best QB in the NFL.... Hmmm seems pretty middle of the road to me. He throws too many ints .... he got lucky throwing the ball up for grabs the year they won the superbowl.

Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, Phillip Rivers, Mike Vick, Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, Tony Romo, Ben Rothelisberger, Matt Schuab, Josh Freeman.

  • Rickety Cricket‎ - 13 years ago

Eli is a GREAT QB & he is what you hope to get for a high 1st round pick... He is just not ELITE.

  • Erick - 13 years ago

I am a Giants fan and I think this has gotten out of control .... Really!!! I mean .. What's the guy suppose to say? No, I'm not and elite QB? C'mon ... Serioulsy .. I wouldn't want him on my team if he said he wasn't an elite QB. There was no way to come out of that question without getting ripped by the media/fans for his answer either way. I thing he's a very very good quaterback with the potential to be great in the near future. I hope he shuts all his critics up and shows he can be mentioned with the elite class of QB's. He was also harshly criticized back in '07..... and you all know how that turned out!

  • Nick - 13 years ago

Did anyone actually listen to the interview?? He was asked if he thought he was in the top 5 - 10 range and he said yes. Brady's name came up so he talked about him. This is getting ridiculous. How many active QB's are Super Bowl MVP's? If you dont think Eli is in the top 10 you are smoking crack.

  • J - 13 years ago

I'm a big Giant fan and I think he's smoking something. Time to drugtest Eli.

  • Real football fan - 13 years ago

Eli Manning is absolutely elite. He is a very solid QB who overachieves week in and week out. This poll is a joke; the day a starting QB says he is not elite, is the day he should get cut.

    Have some respect.

  • Tony - 13 years ago

His not even the best quarterback from his draft class.

  • chris madigan - 13 years ago

his ranking every year. 04- not enough attempts 05/23rd 06/18th 07/25th 08/14th 09/11th 10/17th. never even cracked top ten. get real eli.

  • Sven - 13 years ago

Eli can be fairly compared to the likes of Mark Rypien & Trent Dilfer. They both have Super Bowl rings also. Eli Manning is not quite as good a player as those two.

  • Chris Jones - 13 years ago

Wow. 16% of these votes came from Giants fans.

  • Myke - 13 years ago

    He's Trent Dilfer

  • John Nunes - 13 years ago

Nice kid, very good, just not elite...

  • Pat Taylor - 13 years ago

I'm not a Giants fan, but Eli is one of ONLY FIVE QBs are Super Bowl MVPs. As regards the ridiculous number of interceptions last year (25), here are some of the others who've been that range: Brett (29), Ben (23), Peyton (23), Kurt (22), and the list goes on. So the argument can be made for Eli being an 'elite quarterback'. Just 'cuz he looks like a possum don't mean he sucks, right?

  • db - 13 years ago

He is one of the top 8 qbs in the league. He has won playoff games and a super bowl. Plays undermore pressure then any qb in the league bc he is the younger brother of maybe the greatest qb to ever play. Plays in the largest media market in the world and the worse stadium in the league. He does hide behind a great defense like big Ben or play in a terrible division like rivers, nor has he played with hall of famers like rivers. If plax doesnt shot himself in the leg he might have two rings.

  • Calen D from NS - 13 years ago

Ask Eli this: Do you regret spreading the rumors about you being an elite quarterback?

  • john moreth - 13 years ago

Not a giants fan. My question is how many people voting have a qb that has a ring due to his skill an leadership and think their qb is elite. Not putting him next to payton but think about it.

  • GCB - 13 years ago

You gotta be kiddin. He must be drinking the kool aid.

  • JP - 13 years ago

He's a legend in his own mind.

  • Mik3y - 13 years ago

    Eagles suck homie

  • mel - 13 years ago

He's the 3rd worste qb in his division. How can he compare himself to brady.
The only thing he's elite at is throwing interceptions and choking
    Against the eagles.
