Should businesses be allowed to refuse service based on sexual orientation?

These polls results are disgusting. Discrimination at it's best.

To all here who feel this store has the right to sell to whomever they choose, let's try a substitution game.

What if this store refused to sell a dress to a woman because she was Catholic?
What if this store refused to sell a dress to a woman because she was Jewish?
What if this store refused to sell a dress to a woman because she was Italian?

What? You don't think the store should be able to discriminate any Catholics, Jews or Italians? Well it's the same thing with gays. Get over it hypocrites.

i don't like this poll, because it is misleading to intellectually shallow people. I voted that businesses SHOULD have the right to choose who they wish to do business with. But that's not because I'm homophobic or bigoted- it's because I would rather know that a business owner is a bigot so I can refrain from providing him with my money. And that business owner should be punished by the market in the form of customer flight. In the case of local monopolies, the town that has only one dentist must be small enough that the community could ban together and boycott the offending dentist and either force him out of business, or into changing his mind. Life is messy, but I'd rather know the truth than be fooled by a government-imposed coat of political correctness into making bad people wealthy.

Should businesses be allowed to refuse service based on religion, including Christianity? I wouldn't be surprised if that 80% said no.

Well, it's good to see 80% of Glenn Beck's followers are homophobic bigots--really validates my own ideological choices and reasoning to see that I'm NOT like them, in terms of political and ideological persuasion that is.

But what if these businesses have a local monopoly?

For instance, in my area, the only option we have for internet is Qwest. About a mile west of me, the only option for internet is Cox. What if one of these providers decided to deny service to people because they were LGBT or a different ethnicity or because they were short or had a disability?

A whole group of people would be without a particular service, and would have no where else to turn to.

There is only one dentist around here, the next one is 50+ miles away. What if he decided to deny service to people based on (insert minority here)?

That is why it should be illegal.

Privately owned businesses should be able to serve whomever they please. If a person feels he/she is being discriminated against for whatever reason, there are plenty of other businesses to choose from that would welcome them. I don't always think running to the Press is a great idea as it often makes the complainant sound whiney...just saying'.

Businesses should be allowed to operate (sell) their merchandise to whomever they desire. The market will (and should) shut down people that discriminate based on irrelevant things to their business. Would she not sell a wedding dress to someone who is pretending (a play for ex.) to get married? The "illegality" issue was purely a defense for her bigotry.

I can't believe that the blaze audience feels this way. As a libertarian I have believe in live and let live.

A company should have the freedom to do business with whoever they wish. That being said, I personally wouldn't do business with a company that denies service to people for silly reasons like race or sexual orientation. I'd spend my money with their competition and hope they go under.

Thanks for your stupid comment Ray. I wish that Al Qeada would decapitate you and your entire family.

@ray - Wow, so for those that have opinions and beliefs that are contrary to yours, you wish death upon them. How hateful and over-the-top can you be? Apparently, very.

    Forced tolerance is tyranny.

I believe no-one should be discriminated upon by any organization for any reason or creed, but I don't condone mindless vitriol and conjecture like yours. You are free to speak your mind of course, but you are also free to be chided for mindless ignorance without wishes of death upon you.

Wow. I kind of figured that the Blazers would support discrimination against homosexuals. I hope they all get brain amoebas. Maybe they already have.
