Do you think Derrick Burroughs University of Memphis Jersey Should Be Retired

His passion for the game was intense! Watching the 1988 AFC championship against the Cincinnati Bengals proves that! Though he was a victim of a overzealous referee. That call may have cost the Buffalo Bills the game? The Wilson family (Bills Owners) should do the right thing and makeup for a huge misunderstanding. Derek left his heart and soul on that field back in 1989 against the Houston Oilers and almost never walked again! Shame on the NFL! s
Shame on all who have turn their back on this man.

Another tell tell of how the system can unfairly blackball some people. It is a disgrace to the game to fail the spirit of the game. Where’s the integrity ... where’s the brotherhood . A simple thank you Mr Derrick Burroughs ????????????

I have known Derrick for 25 years, but never knew that part of his life. He was a friend of my brother, Doran Major, who passed away 6 years ago. Doran was a DB too. The both played at Memphis State. I mentioned the number of years of knowing Derrick, because in all of my years of knowing him, he NEVER shared that story with me. That tells me that Coach Burroughs is not wallowing in the valley of despair. Obviously he has taken the high road and let the chips fall where they may. I happened to catch Mr. Lem Barney on a sports talks show program some years ago. He made a astonishing prediction regarding the NFL, he said the NFL will not be around in the next 20 years. I thought it was a foolish comment then and sneakily laughed at the prophecy. But he was right!!! With CTE and all the other injuries, that ruin the lives of these young men, is the money worth it? I view, as do many others, the NFL (especially the NFL combine) as modern day slavery!!! I don't particularly care for the NFL anymore. The Derrick Burroughs story is just another reason not to support the game.

Best DB in Memphis football history. Would have been an All pro if had not been injured
