Are You Settling Down This Year?

I'm waiting for the Nexus Prime too, hope it won't be too long after launch that it makes it to Sprint. I'm a Gadgeteer, its got to be the best, and I think this one will be it.

I've owned the HTC Evo since day 1. I upgraded to the HTC Evo 3D and deemed it an unworthy successor (there are a couple of very annoying things about that phone, 3D is one of them), so sent it back and reactivated the original, which is still a wonderful device and can easily carry me through until Ice Cream Sandwich and a pure Google phone make it to my carrier.

Currently I'm rocking with the Droid X, but I've been wanting to get a Windows Phone 7 for a while now. Verizon sadly only has one WP7 model, the HTC Trophy, but hopefully they'll have more options by the end of the year when I'm eligible to upgrade.

I'm waiting on the Padfone from Asus, particularly if they produce multiple screen sizes and let you use two phones for one tablet screen. I'll wait for the initial reviews, just in case the hardware is disappointing, but I suspect I'll own one shortly after they arrive.

I've always been a power user and bleeding edge kinda guy, so this may seem strange. But I'm settled. I've got my Galaxy S Vibrant that I've had for a year, and still see no compelling reason to ugprade. I struggled through the G1 days, yearning for the snappiness of my old HTC Touch (WM 6.x) device. I upgraded to a MyTouch 3G temporarily, and realized it wasn't any better... and then I got the Vibrant.

Yes, Samsung & T-Mobile have worked over the users with the lack of a Gingerbread update or even leak, but it is still a very fast phone and after a year still looks and feels brand new. With community modded ROMs it also has NONE of that supposed "samsung lag" and does everything I want quickly. Not sure what I'd get by upgrading.

So... I think I'll wait till next year and upgrade. Besides, I don't think I wanna be into T-Mobile for another year now that the installment plan accounts ALSO require a contract.

As much as I would love to have the Galaxy S II and/or Nexus Prime in a (few) month(s), I guess I'm a settler to a degree. I cannot bring myself to get the unsubsidized versions of either of those phones--at least when they're still new. So, I settled for a Nexus S off Amazon (and I should have it Monday). Call me the Late Adopter.

At the moment I'm set on Samsung Galaxy S II. However, I will keep updated about Nexus Prime while waiting for the S2. If they give a reasonable release date when the S2 comes out, I may wait longer. I'm switching from an iPhone 3G which was available for upgrade in March. UUHHHGGGGG!!!!!! Anticipation is killing ME!
