Do you think UW is ready to take the next step to true conference/BCS contention?

Another 7-5 year this year...hopefully another Bowl win...But NEXT year...watch out !! Next year will be the year we surprise some people on the national level and contend for Pac12 Championship ! This year will be fun to watch and great for the maturity of the young players, but next year is when it starts coming together to be the dominant Huskies of old !!

I do believe that the Dawgs can contend in their games. Not for any meaningful BCS match after the regular season is over. I understand hope springs eternal but this is a team with a lot of potential that is still in the future. Eleven very young players potentially starting? How does that usually turn out? These young players might very well develop into forces at their positions but, you see, each one of them were a star in high school and now they are going to be going up against opposing players with a lot higher ability than the athletes they faced in HS. Maybe next year.

They key word is contention. It seems that would mean winning the games in which they're favored and maybe all but one in which they are pretty even. Plus, playing tough, hard games against Nebraska, ASU, USC, Stanford and the Duck machine with at least a chance at victory in each entering the 4th quarter and actually pulling out upset victories in, let's say, 2 of those 5... That, to me, is very a reasonable 8-4 and in that scenario, "contention" would also include the two upsets coming early to still be in the mix in the second half of the season...

A 10-win season would require hammering out 3 upsets against those 5 teams and beating everyone else... and I think that if everything goes just right, that can happen... but how often in sports does "everything go just right" for a given team?
