Now that tropical storm Irene, formerly a hurricane, has moved on, what do you think of the performance of public safety and emergency workers?

The people claiming an overreaction are the same people who would be whining loudly had they been stuck on an MTA train that got trapped by the mudslide at Glenwood or in need of rescue from a house in Elmsford with 6 feet of water.

Not one of them, I'm sure, has ever had the responsibility for the safety of hundreds of thousands as Rob Astorino, Mayor Bloomberg, Governor Christie and Governor Cuomo has.

Every single one of the people who thought this was an overreaction is nothing more than an anonymous internet whiner. Not one of them, I'm sure, would have the courage to step up to the responsibility of public service in the event of a real emergency.
