I world want a clause that that would make him a special assistant/coach with responsibility for scouting, recruiting, and working with young latino pitchers on the Nats organization in case he doesn't make the cut in April..

YES! He's the heart and soul of the pitching staff. Keeps the guys loose, but is a true competitor. He can be called on for a clutch bunt at any time and does whatever he can to help the team win.
He started the first game as a National and he should retire as a National.

Absolutely not. The Nationals should be cleaning house and dumping most of their horrible pitchers, both starting and reliving. Livan can pitch a good game occasionally, but he's not reliable enough to keep in any capacity. I'm hoping the pitching staff looks completely new next year with few kept from this season.
