What decision should the council take at Friday’s tram meeting?

The Trams fiasco was a financial black hole from the start, it should have been scrapped years ago (and those responsible sued). If the SNP councillors had really wanted to stand up for the voters in Einburgh they would have voted against the Trams project instead of just abstaining.
The thought of them turning traitor at the last moment and actually voting to support this madness is a prospect far too depressing to contemplate. Contrary to another comment the trams will not ease conjestion on Princess St. rather make it worse. Saddest of all will be the plight of all us council tax payers in Edinburgh who will have to pay for this disaster for the next 30+yrs, even although in all polls taken (including this one) we have consistently said that we did not want this unneccessary trams scheme.

Stop at Haymarket? Are we going to suggest to travellers that they then transfer onto the airport buslink so they can get to Waverley?

For once listen to the people of Edinburgh, we don't want trams ,the only people who are going to suffer are us . We will be the ones who have to pay for it with our council tax going up next year. It makes me sick to think of the school closeurs ,cut backs in the NHS and cut backs in the police force due to budget cuts and yet the Scottish government have the money to put £72 million of funding into a nightmare that will only send the people of Edinburgh into debt and more job loses just look at the buisnesses that have already suffered due to the trams.
We already have a good bus service ,and why didn't they just open up the railway line to the airport that would have had no debt attached and would have caused no interference in the people of Edinburghs lifes. All these so called councillors should be fired and fined.

Why not go the whole hog and re-instate the original complete project. However first of all make those who messed up the contracts be held liable.
When they say that the looked at other tram systems over Europe, where did they look? It looks as if they never got of their hotel bars. There is hardly a city in Europe where they have not been able to run a good viable tram network. Did they look at Innsbruck, where they have just added a new line to the airport, Strasbourg, Vienna - I doubt very much doubt it or they might have got it right.
We need to get Princes Street back from being the bus log jam that it is and a good reliable tram system is the only way we will manage this. Why do we have First Buses going to Haymarket, just to turn around and come back again? Why do we need all those extra buses at all, some routes have duplicated buses running to the same destination - it is totally ridiculous.

Please take all the money they are about to waste on the Edinburgh Tram Project (Estimated cost £704m, but more likely twice this) and finish the Scottish Borders single track branch line to Galashiels. Lets have a sensible decision and finish one job before spending anything on a second.
