Government agencies have reduced funding and lost many excellent, committed personnel needed for proactive food monitoring -- the food industry, however, seems to be profitable with funds for attractive packaging, extensive lobbying and costly promotions -- Del Monte -- get your quality control up to snuff....private industry has to take responsibility -- it's our children's food, folks....

The FDA needs better support and more funding to be capable of acting faster and with bigger teeth. A recall AFTER implicated product has left the market is useless. Source investigation and punitive restrictions are necessary and proper ONLY when such source has been proven guilty.
