Do you think The X Factor will be more popular than American Idol?

I agree with Patricia above. I couldn't see all the praise for American Idol this past season. It was missing a lot without Simon's honest critiques. The contestants were often over-praised and needed Simon to be taken down a few pegs. Jennifer Lopez made me nauseous. Steven Tyler was a waste as a critic. Hated it!

JM Kelly, I'm with you. Talk about wasting time--I wish I had the patience to time the minutes of commercials verses the actual minutes of the TRASH of what's supposed to be en-
tertainment--I suppose Simon & Paula don't have enough millions or is it billions of $$$$, so
they need to squeeze in even more commercials than AI. And how staged & fake was Paula
when she saw the man drop his pants? Poor thing had to go throw up & of course be filmed.
I had actually begun to like Simon on AI. Now I have NO RESPECT at all for the man or any
of the players on this so called X-factor spectacular show of the year!!!!! Isn't our country
corrupt enough without adding something like this for our children & grandchildren to see??

Watched the X Factor last night and it was a good example of what our country is turning into .Pure trash had that one contestant done out side what he did inside he would have been arrested and jailed .Hasn't X Factor heard of security guards . I will never waste my time again watching it .

Noticed poor Harold's comments above. He probably thinks the TV show "Survivors" is as real life as these mindless TV shows today (i.e. the soap operas of the 60's), Pity that his life revolves around a TV set instead of the real world. pc

I have Simon Cowell's book, "I don't mean to be rude, but...". My husband gave it to me because he worked as the top security man for the American Idols (security company hired by Fremantle Productions). AI is passe because it is already in it's tenth season and loosing steam. Plus, it's starting to look like that the voting may(or may not) be rigged. Not sure but, it's definitely losing viewership. The novelty is gone.

i so enjoy idol with the loving, kind, fun and
knowledgeable comments that jennifer and steven bring to the show. i used to fast forward through the judges before, now i look forward to hearing what they have to say.

American Idol is getting boring - same old, same old. Looking forward to the new X Factor!

I haven't watched IA for the past two years. I love Paula and Simon together. The show was just not the same . I watched the show from the beginning and was disappointed that Paula was not going to be one of the judges, so I quit watching. I will watch the Xfactor because it will be different from IA and will give contestant of all ages a chance.

I thoroughly enjoyed last season of AI and plan to watch it again this year. Have no plan at all to watch Xfactor, why would I put myself thorugh the pain and agony of watching Simon with his poor manners and very loud mouth. I wish that they would permanently revoke his visa or right to enter the USA and send him back to jolly ole England permanently. We have enough rude Americans without importing rude Englishmen, goes for Piers also (the one from America has Talent, not Piers Chance!). Just have to wonder though, if Piers Chance means what he/she said, why even comment about a show that you don't watch or have any interest in watching?

I will keep watching the American Idol. I didn't miss Simon or Paula at all last time. I have no plans to watch the X Factor

After Simon left AI, the judging turned into all sweet and niceness without any constructive criticism from the likes of Simon. When an act was terrible the worst the contestant would hear was " You weren't up to your usual standards ". Simon's comments prepares the contestant for the criticism they're going to encounter in the real world of the entertainment industry. When A I lost Paula and Simon they lost the empetus that made a "sing-off" show entertaining. I'm looking forward to The X Factor.

Both shows remind me of the old joke about hitting yourself in the head with a hammer. It only feels good when you quit. I'd rather watch "professional" wrestling!

I have never missed a season of American Idol, that said, I think last season was a little bland in the talent department. I am looking forward to the XFactor and I am sure it will be a hit this year, possibly surpassing American Idol in viewer ratings.

Idol had the best year ever without negative Simon. Steven, Jennifer and Randy can be critical and still say it in a nice way. Paula Abdul as cute as she is is to ditsy. My vote is American Idol. Ryan Seacrest a great host.

I think American Idol this year was the worst. Mainly because we didn't have the honest
critique of Simon. Jennifer Lopez, I thought, was using AI for the exposure and further her career - which she accomplished . Steven Tyler? Well, I'm not really sure what he added. And Randy - I'm soooo over him and his "dogs". Doesn't this man have any other words in his vocabulary? Can't wait to Simon and Paula back together again!! Go X-Factor

Idol was so much better and more entertaining without the meaness of Simon. The two new judges, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler, were the big entertainment factor and Randy was still Randy, with spot-on comments. I think people will watch the Xfactor just to see what Simon will say, not because it will be a better show.
