I like Riley, but he has been a little hot and cold in the past. I would like to see James Lark get a shot. He competed head to head with Riley and Jake and held his own and did better in some instances in Spring ball. He has worked very hard and can't do any worse than what we got. Give him a quarter or two and lets see what happens. By the way, I have never met James and I am not a distant or otherwise a relative. It is just that I followed the Spring training reports and Bronco and others were very high on James. For whatever reason Jake is to stiff right now. He isn't relaxed or comfortable on the field. I think between last year and this year, so far, he has lost his swagger, his confidence. Let him sit for a while and work hard in practice for another shot. If he is the competitor we hope and think he is, he will prepare and make it happen for himself. He is a great kid and he'll know what he has to do and why he is being made to do it.

Part of the reason Riley was so successful against Utah St. was because the Utah St. Defense wasnt prepared for him. Him coming in half way through the game threw a wrench in things for them defensively. It's hard to say that he would be as effective when a team has all week to prepare for him. Still I would go with Riley because the bottom line is he is a competitor. Talent or not he puts it all out there and lays himself on the line to get the job done and that is something Jake has yet to show. He seems to worried about injurying his NFL arm. Until Heaps shows me he can step up and do what it takes in critical times I would go with the golden boy Riley Nelson and all his intangibles.
