I was intrigued by the fact that comic actor Seth Rogen played himself in this true, more dramatic story of his male friend's cancer ordeal. The best part of the story for me was the very real dialogue between the buddies as they try to joke through their pain, fear and sadness, the typical emotional avoidance technique used by men in our "macho" society, which kept the plot out of maudlin "chick flick" territory. Based on previous buzz, I was expecting a big plot twist somewhere; but in spite of the common beat-illness, fall-for-your-therapist storyline, the writing and character development kept me interested all through the movie; and I really like it when I can walk out of the theater smiling.
