My Son uses the ProxTalker he got through his school. He also has proloquotogo, but it's a little complicated with too many options and he uses a simpler one mostly. Can't remember the name of it off hand.

My 15 year old non verbal son uses the ipod for speech. Software is Proloquo2go. Terrific software and ease of device.

I am a speech therapist who agrees with the above comment "shame on them". Unfortunately money often becomes the deciding factor in providing speech generated devices for non-verbal children. Though I am familiar with numerous speech output devices, the one that I find most helpful when I do therapy is the ipad or ipod touch with the proloquo2go software. It is easy to program and easy to use.
BUT I do believe the choice of a device is a team decision including student, family, speech/language therapist, teacher, AT specialist and other professionals as needed. If a student is not interested or if a teacher is not trained on its use, the device will not be used.

My son is almost 21 yrs old and nonverbal. What bothers me most is our district and special ed school were not helpful with getting him a communicating device that would be best for him. Many children are without a device or have one that is too limited, SHAME ON THEM!
After years of research and fighting for my son he finally has the voice (device) that he should have always had. Its called The Vantage Lite https://store.prentrom.com/product_info.php/cPath/11/products_id/80
If you child is nonverbal please request a cse meeting and ask to have them evaluated for . this device. As always you must work hard for your children!
