Been waiting the past 4 months for this upgrade, havent even been able to download the 668.8 megabites for the download.Keep timing out at 668.7 mega bites. Apple servers are swamped, my friend found a window when they weren't and got her iPad and iPhone 4 up and running iOS 5. I'm trying again tonight on the iPhone 3GS. Try and do the download early in the morning or late at night because then the servers will have less traffic. Just keep trying and make sure that you have a good connection. If anyone has trouble write a comment so we can all get iOS 5 ASAP

Managed to update our iPhone 3GS, iPad1, iMac, MacPro, iMacBookPro and Macmini (Lion server) but altogether took around six hours (mostly time spent waiting for downloads).
Lion updates (to 10.7.2 & Server, plus iPhoto and Aperture) were large (over 1GB) but reasonably quick to download, mainly limited by ADSL download speed (15Mbps) however iOS5 download was slow and took nearly an hour. I could only update the iPhone from the same MacBookPro that I used for the last update to iOS4; the restore failed consistently when I tried updating my iPhone to iOS5 from MacPro The updates to iCloud were straightforward but took up to a dozen retries before success (severs probably busy)
    Seems OK now.
