Do you think Transitional Kindergarten is a good idea for children?

My daughter had the good luck to have out-of-state teacher earning their California degrees while teaching my 4-year old daughter, in a day care center, how to read, learn some Spanish, do simple math, and to learn to get along with her fellow students. She and many of her friends did well when entering kindergarten and in the following grades through high school from their early experiences. I would think transitional school is pretty much the same thing - or should be similar. Children that young absorb higher learning like little sponges.

Incidentally, my daughter is now a teacher with the Los Angeles Unified School Distrist, teaching 7th grade History and Social Studies. She was one of 22 teachers chosen as Teacher of the Year in 2010 by the LAUSD, and was just recently chosen to sit on the LAUSD/Community Advisory Council.
