Did Penn State do the right thing by firing Joe Paterno?

Joe should have been allowed to play the last home game on Saturday and then fired. Students should have it made clear that no demonstrating or protesting was allowed or the coach would be escorted out. He is 84 yrs old, did not commit a crime and devoted himself to the studenrts of Penn State for 46+ years. There is no excuse for not acting but he did pass the information to an appropriate source, if you can believe what you hear. It was wrong to not follow-up on the issue after he brought it to someone's attention. The acts of child abuse by the assistant coach were horrendous and dispicable.
