sometimes trying to please everyone can have a degree of fault!!!no one said the other sexual appetites that make up our diversed community were not welcome!!!and they have the freedom to form their own day of celebration as who they see themselves as!!!Granted they will find the path to such a celebration of acceptance long and with casualties!!!!Gays and Lesbians have done the leg work to call mardi gras what they wish...and every day we still face crap from those less loved in the world!!!I guess what I am trying to say is that gay and lesbian have to recognize that our community is diversed and still has not achieved full equality!!!!Lets achieve equality for ourselves first!!!!!

I have no qualms about maybe making it the GLBTIQ mardi gras- but to drop the title completely takes the night away from the queer community- it's our night of nights, for some the only night they feel they can be themselves, I don't want it to become so inclusive that it becomes just another party.

Perhaps they should call it the "rainbow of sexuality festival"...

Should we remove the word indigenous from all festivals, or events relating to another minority, to make them more inclusive?

Sorry- but during the day Friday, and all through the night till 8am Saturday morning, the poll was allowing multiple votes & so the results are completely flawed. At approx 8am Saturday morning, an administrator obviously made a change to the poll and altered it's appearance to include the actual number of votes (which sso polls in general including this one previously didn't show), and at the same time flicked a box to disallow multiple votes - so from 8am Saturday morning people for the first time then received the message "we have already counted your vote" if they tried to vote more than once and were blocked from voting multiple times. This poll needs to be forensically analysed based on hits from IP addresses up to 8am Sat morning, to prove that the poll was faulty during the inital day of votes where the Yes camp entered over 1,900 votes (a flow that has now slowed to a snails pace as soon as the block on multiple votes was put on Saturday morning after the horse had bolted).
Sadly, this stuff up, and frantic period of up to 1,900 multiple votes, is only adding to the delusion of the NMG board that they made the right decision & are going to continue on with their train-wreck decision.

As a trans person I have always felt like a second class queer when participating in MG events, I welcome the change.
