  • Nigel Parkes - 2 months ago

If you've never been to Alders Farm you ought to get down there.

The fishing is just incredible. With huge bags of fish always on the cards and a good bunch of guys running the matches, the visiting angler will be virtually guaranteed a day to remember.

I have fished Alders a lot over the last few years and can't honestly believe there can be a more prolific venue.

    An awesome place.

  • nick pringle - 2 months ago

Been fishing Alders for a couple of years, The first couple of times the top weight was around the 100lb mark with backups of between 60 and 80lb, but over the last couple of years it's just got better and better, with weight on the silvers lake needing to be over 200lb to frame, I fished a match this past summer and only managed a 5th placeing with a PB of 396lb, before that I had only managed just over 200lb in a 5 hour match, It was such a great day that even Jim the bailiff came and gave me the nornal insults ( he's only jealous of my shiny head), as well as tips to increase my catch rate as it was not like most people think it is; if the feed is not right, along with the presentation then you wont catch a big weight of fish.
Keep up the good work, Dinah and the gang. Look forward to seeing you all soon once the tumbling bay matches start again.
    Nick :)

  • Gwennie - 2 months ago

I run a small match group in Bedfordshire and fish matches most weeks, whilst catching 10lb to 50lb week in week out is fine, we all look forward to our matches at Alders Farm. You know you are going to need at least 200lb to frame and in many cases over 400lb to win. Even in the Winter you regularly catch 100lb, We have been to places this time of year when the only bite you get is your breakfast. Check out our results on the website. The most natural commercial fishery you will ever visit. Fishing of a quality that you will never better. Oh yes, also the best breakfast anywhere !

  • Midge Milnes - 2 months ago

Lindholme with out a doubt is the best fishery I have been to with disabled access on most of the lakes. Always get a friendly welcome from Neil and Bev and their excellent staff

  • Dave - 2 months ago

Its shaping up to be a great category by the looks of all the
    Comments.
I have to give my vote to alders farm simply on the fantastic fishing
Having different inlets of spring water it helps keep
    The fish in fantastic condition.
They are probably one of the only a few still waters in the country who have
No problem with water levels and purity.
Well done alders but good luck to all the others who have been nominated .

  • Les.Collier - 2 months ago

A total quality venue run by total quality people.
Lindholme meets the requirements of all anglers and the visitor can guarantee that that they are going to get more than they expect.
I am truly impressed with Lindholme

  • jason davies - 2 months ago

Lindholme lakes is the best around with great and improving facilities cannot wait until the fisho qualifier again this coming year

  • Fred Carpenter - 2 months ago

My wife and I stayed at Lindholme Lakes, during the summer, in a caravan for a week of fishing and sight-seeing. We found Neil and his family to be extremely helpful and sociable.
The facilities are both-sex friendly and my wife found the non-sexist attitude of people involved very refreshing. Fishing was good considering the inclement weather conditions.,

  • Gordon Simms Drax P.S.A.C. - 2 months ago

Lindholm is an excellent fishery run by a great team.

  • kenny Rigby - 2 months ago

if there's a fairer fishery in Britain please let me know, also the facilities are second to none and Neil(the gaffer) is always trying to inprove, and he will put is money where is mouth is and you cant say fairer than that.

  • John Blewitt - 2 months ago

Our young fishing club from Winn GardensSheffield have used it in the past and will certainly use it again in the future. The owners and staff make the young and inexperience very welcome and give them loads of encouragement and advice.

  • Lee - 2 months ago

My Daughter went to the local in Gt Brickhill and all of us who have children live with memories of different times in their lives.
One that sticks in my mind is when she came home from school saying she had been to see the fishes in the village.
What she meant was the school had been invited to Alders farm by the owners to run through the woods look at nature and do a little fishing, and she never stopped going on about it it meant so much to her.
The consequence of that visit is I now have taken my son fishing who lets say pardon the pun is "hooked" well done Alders you have my vote.

  • Martin Greene - 2 months ago

Alders Farm. A NATURAL venue that is very different to most commercials in the UK. Absolutely stunning lakes with a huge future in the UK. Fishes different every match I compete in. A proper fishing venue that suits the hard working anglers on the bank. Well done Trevor and everyone that helps run Alders Farm.

  • Alan - 2 months ago

Good to see so many supporting their local fishery, it bodes well for the future of our sport.
Obviously Lindholme being the biggest should have the most support and if so good luck to them, but my vote has to go to Alders farm not only do they provide an exceptional place to fish its set in the most fantastic surroundings.
The owners are first class people the breakfasts great, and the Open Matches are amongst the best run in the country.
On a recent visit I heard of some of the plans they have for the future, and the names of a couple of anglers who will be working on site and that again shows me what shrewd people the owners must be having these great guys on board.
To finish a fishery that opens its doors to the local school and lets the children learn about our great sport deserves not only my vote but the vote of the whole angling trade.

Well done Alders I wish you well

  • Howard Barrie - 2 months ago

A super place with super people.... I always look forward to my visits when I can and I am sure everyone feels the same as I do.... Thank you guys, you can take pride in what you do and taking good care of my needs....

  • Peter Webber - 2 months ago

I've fished a couple of the venues listed on this poll and can say that lindholme is by far the best fishery I've fished. not only is the fishing 1st class Neil, his loverly wife and all the staff as well as the local match anglers that fish it are more then willing to take time out to help you and ensure you enjoy your day out. A***

  • Reece smith - 2 months ago

i have fished this fishery many of times and i've always had grate results and i have also had plenty of weights over 100lb .
The fishing just gets better and better every time i go and everyone there a so nice and willing to give u advice if u need any .

  • Derek Smith - 2 months ago

I have fished this lake for many years. Each year the lakes improve. The silver fish lake is now improving and reaching the standard of the match lake. With work being carried out to the pleasure lake there Is promise of another good lake and even better fishing in the future. Many thanks to Dinah and Gary for all the input into the fishery

  • Chris Telling - 2 months ago

It's a long way for me to go, but it is worth every mile!

  • Barry Mason - 2 months ago

Where can you go and catch 200 lb through the ice!! If Carlsberg did fishery's, it would be Alders Farm !!!! Barry Mason

  • High Ash CE School - 2 months ago

Alders Farm is our local fishery. Dinah has shown tremendous generosity to our school, welcoming us for several years on an annual Christmas Tree walk as well as supporting the children's learning through letting us pond dip and fish in the lakes. The children loved the crayfish racing! Use of the fisheries has greatly enhanced the curriculum at school.

  • Simon jones - 2 months ago

86 miles from my house and I would fish there every weekend if the wife would let me and I didn't have other fishing commitments to fulfill.

A truly fantastic and picturesque venue with awesomely great potential.

Food great too and Dinah is a great owner. Strict but very fair!

  • fred - 2 months ago

Lindholme all the way for me ,9 lakes and a fly lake all stocked to the gunnells.
Well presented great people and a tackle shop better then most high street retailers .
Neil Really knows how to run the premier fishery of all time and is still expanding

  • michael - 2 months ago

Alders farm, has always been an awesome water for lots of reasons.
Even thou its 5 mins from the hustle an bustle of MK, as soon as you arrive you have the overwhelming sense of peace and tranquillity. Over the years the place has really grown up. The lakes are all stocked really well and it offers every angler whether beginner or pro a great day out at an affordable price. plus the breakfast is awesome...

    thank you alders, Michael

  • Nicky - 2 months ago

Alders Farm.....friendly welcoming and beautiful.....Being new to fishing, The team at Alders are always on hand to offer me advise....I have learnt so much in a short space of time and cant wait to get back to this lovely venue for more fun. I hope you do well in this Poll as its thoroughly deserved....Best of Luck Alders!!!

  • Paul - 2 months ago

Congrats to Alders for your nomination you may not be the biggest but IMO you are the best fishery I have ever been to.
I get to as many open matches as possible and can honestly say the chaps that fish those matches are the most open and honest that I have ever met.
The match organiser Trevor Price must get hundreds of calls about the fishery yet still gives you his time as if your the only one who calls him, even sorting the venue expert Gary Thorpe to tell you about your draw on the day.
Breakfast is mega the whole experience is fantastic I hope you do well.

  • Richard - 2 months ago

Just seen that Alders is up for this award, and have to say they deserve it purely on the beauty of the place.
I take my wife over with me and our favourite lake is the silver lake when your up there you would not believe you were on a commercial fishery in fact it feels like the lake district.
The staff are first class and always helpfull and the owners never bother you once your booked in and fishing.

Best of luck to all who have made the final well done to you all but for me its Alders Farm fishery

  • Andy wiles - 2 months ago

If you want bag up this is the. Place to go for matches or pleasure you won't find a better place

  • Cloughy - 2 months ago

    Lindholme Lakes.

Had a match booked elsewhere yesterday but the owner wanted more money than agreed for less pegs. A quick call to Neil at Lindholme and we had 22 pegs at short notice. When we all arrived at 10am it was pegged and ready. Thats what makes the difference. Thanks Neil.

  • Andy Clough (Bradford Pals AC) - 2 months ago

Lindholme stands out by a mile. Family run and very welcoming. Great fishing with easy access and the tackle shop is very fairly priced. We have had three club matches there this year and have three booked for next year. Good food and even a bar for a drink afterwards. An anglers paradise.

  • Amanda - 2 months ago

I am not a fisher person but I go and sit with my husband while he fishes.
I would vote for alders farm because of its beautifull location.
We have seen red kites muntjacks and king fishers, and it's set in the most beautifull locations.
On top of that you are only minuets from central
Milton Keynes where you can go and do but of shopping if you want to.
Alders is mine and my husbands first choice it's lovely
    Amanda

Alders farm has got to be not only the most prolific fishery in the country but also the most picturesque. I happily travel for a hour to fish there as often as possible. Wish I lived closer

  • Dave - 2 months ago

If the votes were purely down to the good looks, charm and sophistication of the owner I doubt Neil would have made it into the last page :P - it must be down to the fishery then ;)

  • bill fox - 2 months ago

One of if not the best fisheries in the country run for the angler and not the owner with the most welcoming hosts of any fishery I've ever used a pleasure to give Lindholme my vote

  • Neil - 2 months ago

Lindholme Lakes is welcoming your votes for this award ,we strive hard here to please all anglers and have invested all the monies into making this a fishermens complex and not just a money making machine

    Neil Grantham

  • Trev - 2 months ago

The fishery has got better and better over the years.
With more investmant from the owners with a new on site shop
A refurbed cafe and best of all a new lake opening
Alders is truly an anglers paradise.

  • John Brennan [aka Sib] - 2 months ago

Excellent fishery! My club had 9 pb weights in one of our matches there this year. I hope the new lake will be as good as Match & Silvers. Well done to Trev and the gang! Keep up the good work.

  • Lloyd Rush - 2 months ago

Brilliant fishery with a BIG future. Lots of work going on to ensure the fishery stays as one of the top silver and carp commercial venues in the UK.

Consistent sport will make this the No1 for many. Well done Alders Farm.

  • Jon Hatch - 2 months ago

Cracking little place. It might not have all the bells and whistles yet, but that generally means that ticket and fishery own bait prices become unrealistic in my experience.
