Do you think the recent attention paid to Attawapiskat will help improve conditions on First Nations reserves?

Our aboriginal community have their own way of doing things; although they parallel much of our own political philosopy, where our politicians are self serving; our first nations will self indulge for the short term and not think of the future. Additionally their inrastructure doe not allow intervention and participation as a collective unit - much like a monarchy.

It is my opinio that If what u say Norm is true--Why is the NWT so successful in self government??An affirmative action plan hire first nation people where possible worked very well--to the extent that total integration exists and these very people are very successful and competent in the workforce and in business [as entrpreneurs].Given a chance --every area can thrive--but governments have to take the time and provide programs and training for integration into the workforce and entreprenurial enterprises.Throwing money alone will never help--working together demonstrating example works.

The first nations on many front are not capable of handling their own affairs. This has been
going on for years .I totally agtree with Joan Crokatts comments . Gerard kennedy has his
head buried in the sand regarding first nations issues. The best example of first nations
that are successful is the Osoyoos Band run by Chief Louie .He should be in charge of first nations issues in this country if youm want some success.

lol, that Tim Powers is such a fool.
not only does he prove how partisan , rude and ignorant he truly is,
he can't handle the truth and "Not" having control of the discussion.

Conservatives really hate simple straight forward questions.
it gets them all uptight and sends them spinning and crawling the walls for a way out to avoid simply answering.

lol, the Conservative member on the talk about Durban and Climate talks and Kyoto was gettin' a tad uptight and angry that no one believes any of her Conservative bs lines, talking points and spin.

she just kept going on and on and on and trying to avoid answering a simple question.
