What you support a "baby tax" at Toronto restaurants?

Here's an idea -- get a babysitter! As others have observed, the problem is the parents, particularly of the hipster-douche variety, who seem to think their badly behaved, over-indulged kids are nothing more than an accessory that they can bring to all of the places they used to go when they were childless. If I'm out for an expensive dinner in a high-class restaurant, I don't need to hear or see screaming children. That's what Chuck E. Cheese is for people!

although i often find myself in despair when a dinner out is interrupted by misbehaving children, i have to ask what the tax is for? if its simply a deterrent, i dont think $3 will do the trick and to raise it to some ridiculous amount ($10) would seem ludicrous, no? What is the purpose of the tax? where will those tax dollars go - to benefit the people wishing to impose it?
maybe it would be better to have a family area of the restaurant like they used to do with smoking....

Sounds rather cold and elitist if you ask me. Parents should be mindful of where they bring young children, whether it's a restaurant or grocery store, but more out of concern for the child. Kids need constant stimulation and will not sit still for long regardless of where you are.
Get a baby sitter... Go to more family friendly restaurants... Leave the child with another family member if you can. I care less about the other patrons in these places, than I do the child... It's just not fair to the little one. If you have no choice (single parent, no family) then do what you must, but expect that many others are insensitive or impatient.

The problem lies in the parents. It seems people these days have kids just to see what their dna looks like mashed up with someone else's. People no longer care about the aspect of nurturing a human being. Thus, we are left with a bunch of screaming, undisciplined children who annoy the %^#! out of civilians. Taxing these shitheads (parents) if their child misbehaves may make them think twice about training their kids properly.

I think this is backwards. People raising children should pay less. They need the help. I would tax the judgmental in restaurants and pass the money to the parents.
