Who should play LSU in title game?

every ranked team that alabama defeated weren't impressive the rest of the season.

  • markus - 12 years ago

whoever says alabama deserves a rematch is biased. The reasons why oklahoma state deserved a shot vs LSU is because they won their conference, they have more top 25 wins vs alabama and also more wins vs ranked opponents than alabama

If Alabama beats LSU in a title game, should there be a rubber game? Best two out of three?
And should Okla State have a threeway tie because all teams ended up with one lost. Okla. State had the toughest schedule beating more top 25 teams.

Should the BCS put Alabama into the Championship Game against LSU I will use the only tool available to me as a protest. I will simply not watch the game. I really think that's the response others should exercise as well.

Last time I checked Bamalost to Lsu, ok st lost to iowa st...

People say sec is all hype...last time I checked 5 consecutive national champs...

Hard to argue those stats, no...Ohio st, USC...

Boone Pickens does not like results so we need to throw money at it...

Plus one would be great but it does not exist....two best teams currently are Lsu vs. Bama.

Should Michigan not get a bcs bid, why is west Virginia playing in a bcs game, why tcu...be consistent at least

  • jamal antone - 12 years ago

alabama should play because oklahoma3 and bama1 roll godang tide

  • devon - 12 years ago

people say the ok state defence is so bad look up there games 75% of the points scored agianst them are scored on the second string . When they played baylor a top 20 team the score was 49 to 3 at the end of the third then they put in the second string and baylor scored 21 points . and baylor has a good offense there QB is in the heisman race .Alabama has played nobody .There is no losses that make them look bad but no wins that make them look good.Ok state has beaten oklahoma , baylor , and K state .LSU could probably beat either team it just depends do you want to see a 9 to 6 game or a 39 to 36 game.

I agree with BILLFISHER - the great state of Texas (yeah right) got together because OKState had to have a lopsided win to even be considered. Let them eat crow and play Boise State if you want to see an offensive shootout.

Everyone but Baylor on OKState schedule was any real challenge to anyone this year.

It would really be great if the powers that be (the schools, the NCAA and TV executives) could find a way to create a ligtimate playoff senario for Div. I college football. However, I think they really like all the discussion that gets created about just who deserves to play in this one game for the National Championship. I also think most of the top-tier schools that play at this level really don't want a playoff either, or we would have one.

you have no idea whats coming at you!!! Pistol Pete is going to put that pussy cat down!!!

  • Derek - 12 years ago

I don't think it really matters who plays LSU, they will own the game! I'll vote for Oklahoma though! Bama had their chance! Here's another great reason why the BCS stinks! Get these boys into a playoff tourney just like all other collegiate athletics!!!!!

  • BILLFISHER - 12 years ago

OKLAHOMA TOOK A DIVE!!!! ITS ALL ABOUT MONEY. there is no way the coyboy's can beat the sooners like that. they took a dive to get them into the BCS championship game.

  • Edd - 12 years ago

If the BCS matches Bama and LSU they should announce that if Bama wins they would share the national title with LSU. If LSU wins they would hold the National Title alone. The way it now stands LSU has to beat Bama twice while Bama only needs one win against LSU. In addition LSU had to play for the SEC Title while Bama watched the game. Bama had their chance, at home, and lost!!

  • Daniel Andrews - 12 years ago

Ok first off, an argument I am seeing is that Oklahoma state has beaten more top 25 teams (BUT MY GOD, SOUTHERN MISS IS RANKED IN THE TOP 25!). So beating top 25 teams holds no weight in the argument. Besides, nearly every SEC team would be in the top 25 if they didn't have to play against each other. In-conference losses are what knock SEC schools out of the top 25. What is better to examine is offensive and defensive stats? You may say that OK state has a tremendously powerful offense but LSU's defense (or Alabama's defense) would make OK state offense look like it's competing in the NAIA. Take a deep breath and listen to this...OK state has allowed 310 total points this season and Alabama has only allowed 103...OVER THREE TIMES AS MANY POINTS ALLOWED!...that is just sad...and LSU's offense is no joke either...they would make the OK state defense wish they had never come out of the locker room...

The bottom line is that Alabama will be playing LSU in the title game, as is how it should be...offensive-minded people say that they don't want to see another game like we saw against LSU-Bama before but what they don't realize is that at least that was a close game that had to be decided in OT....an LSU against OK state game would NOT be close after the half, possibly after the first quarter so where is the excitement in seeing that....give it up OK state...you should have taken care of business against the unranked cyclones if you wanted a shot...don't blame the computers or the voters when the LSU-Bama rematch is announced tonight...you had your chance and blew it...best of luck to you against Stanford in the Fiesta Bowl (that will be a much more interesting game than against LSU)

J Robinson you need to get your number of wins correct. Alabama is 11-1
not 10-1. Alabama screwed up and controlled most of the LSU game and should have won.
Won the game in every phase but the kicking game. Look at who Alabama has played and
how they dominated every game ( all 12) and only lost by a field goal in OT.
At least Alabama didn't get their tales beat and dominated by an Iowa State team.
LSU could not score a TD on Alabama's goal line. Defense rules and controls football
and Oky State has had plenty of chances to prove they deserve to play and failed.
OSU cowboys need to play in the SEC a few games and learn why the SEC has controlled the college football world for a while and will continue. You need to wake up with Tim Brando
and Gary Danielson and smell the roses. Tim needs to stay where he lives in Louisanna
and eat grass every chance he gets with Les Miles. Gary and Vern can't even call a game
right from the press box and expresses to much personal thoughts toward the real game
on the field. I bet they can tell you that Mark Ingrams dad was in jail a 100 times over.
At least he still won the Heisman Trophy just as Trent will this week.
Sounds like a comment from a Auburn paid Cam fan. Auburn is over and had their paid
NC for another long time to come. Just wait for OSU cowboys fans to want to get rid of their coach in 2 years if not before.

  • Bigcityjizz - 12 years ago

Bama and LSU have both won the national title game in recent years. OK State can not compete on that level.

  • Jeanius Beats - 12 years ago

It think it would be fare to give OSU a shot at LSU, rather than Alabama...OSU has beaten more top 25 ranked teams than Alabama did, and they're a strong enough team to play against LSU, offensively and defensively.

  • Mike La Rosa - 12 years ago

Well the momentum going into the vote today will be for Okla St. If LSU fans really want an easy championship then please put OK St in the game. IT won't be close, over before halftime LSU wins 45-17. If LSU wants to be considered one of the best of all time then it must face Alabama again. That 9-6 OT game against the then No-1 team was epic. A battle of Titans. The only team that has any chance of beating LSU is Alabama. To be considered the best they must face the best and if that means a rematch then so be it. Sorry OK St fans but Alabama is by far the better team and should be given the opportunity.

  • James Hedmsn - 12 years ago

The death of two OK State coaches in plane crash hours before Iowa State game had to be huge traumatic distraction for OK St players. I think they would have won this game if not for that tragedy. That is one reason for my vote for OK St. vs. LSU. Unfortunately BCS vote tabulation doesn't take this into account and it looks like 'Bama-LSU in title game.

  • Ron Lewis - 12 years ago

..one more thing...Ok St. is ranked 3rd,4th or 5th depending on your poll. Oklahoma was ranked 10th depending. aren't you supposed to win that game??

  • ron lewis - 12 years ago

Stop it..please. Okie St. beats a depleted Okalhoma team and who previously lost to a hapless Texas Tech and Baylor . They are ranked virtually last in total defense. If Alabama had lost to Vanderbilt or Kentucky, i.e., Iowa State, I'd start to but your argument. Alabama beat LSU on paper. Left 12 points on the field. Just stop it Okie's. Be careful what you wish for.....sometimes you get it. LSU will wipe it's backside with you. Is that really what we want to see?? Herbie said it best, as well as your own coach "use your eyeballs." You should have beaten Oklahoma....Ole Miss woulda beat that Oklahoma team. Spencer Tillman said it as well, "All conferences are not created equal!!" If I wanted to watch a fairytale for the national championship, I'd go see the new Lion King in 3D instead....

    Wake up

Alabama didn't win their conference, they didn't even win their division, they're "also rans". Is it a money thing ? Better attendence in New Orleans, from closer proximity fan base ? The last time this happened was FSU vs. FL. FL lost to FSU the last game of the year, then both teams went to the championship game, in New Orleans, and Fl won. Both teams were 12-1. So what happens if LSU and Ala play and Alabama wins. Both teams will be 12-1. Once again there would now be numerous once beaten teams and no real CHAMPION. The BCS system stinks.

  • Strike - 12 years ago

Only losers want a rematch! Go OSU Go. It's time for all the other conferences to rally against the SEC hype

  • Richie - 12 years ago

Compelling consideration, even if arguable: Both have 1 loss. Bama's loss is to the unquestionably deserving current #1 team (unbeaten against a strong schedule), by 3 points in overtime. Considering how LSU has beaten their opponents, holding them to such a low score and nearly beating them so closely is a very strong statement. OK State's loss is to an unranked team, period -- and the loss was by more points, and not in overtime.

Arguments that consider the way the conference title games are worked in, or even excuses for the psychological state of the team, etc., are weak arguments, at best, and are not compelling.

I think there is a strong case for both, but Bama's argument edges OK State. Sorry.

  • Bob - 12 years ago

If we are only selecting conference champions, Big 12 should not qualify. They have lost 2/3 of the BSC Championship games they have played. Given that the ducks already lost to LSU, Wisconsin is the logical choice. Come on down Badgers!

  • #1 LSU - 12 years ago

Well I am an LSU fan and love the SEC but I do not want to see Bama and LSU again. Plus playing OK ST will guarantee a win for LSU. They do not lose to other conferences.

    Geaux Tigers!!!

  • Big - 12 years ago

I think you should win your conference to go to the BCS Championship.Bama lost their chance when LSU beat them and they didnt go the Atlanta. It should be LSU and Ok St in the BCS Championship Game.

  • J ROBINSON - 12 years ago

Alabama has not won anything just a record of 10-1,who cares no conference champingship or nothing. How can they play in the big game without winning anything thats excellent crap.WE NEED A PLAYOFF SYSTEM JUST LIKE BASKETBALL TO GIVE ALL FOOTBALL PROGRAMS A CHANGE TO WIN AND DANCE IN THE BIG GAME,OR KEEP THAT BORING SAME OLD SAME OLD STUFF LATER

  • Me and I - 12 years ago

Voted boise state just they get spanked and never get ranked again. Cocky bandwagoners

  • Wade Kilgore - 12 years ago

Everyone quit hating on Bama, yes they got beat, even knowing they missed four FGs. I am a Bama fan, but I will also admitt, as bad as it hurts me, that on that day Saban was out coached by Les, but Bama outplayed LSU, but the scoreboard showed diferent and that is what matters at the end of the game. Bama deserves the shot as much as anyone else, not anymore than any other team, but as much. ROLL TIDE and see you in NEW ORLEANS baby.

  • John - 12 years ago

It should be Oklahoma State. I'm not biased here, especially since i'm a Boise State fan, and there one loss came by missing a field goal at the end of the game to TCU, and not many know that they didn't have their star running back that game nor their starting corners.. and with a couple minutes left in the game were about to put the game away, but a fumble and it all fell apart. That fumble wouldn't have happened if Doug Martin was in the game instead of hurt, in fact BSU would have won by 14+ points easy if he was playing... but regardless, it happened and that's college football.

But - to OK St. They won their division, the Big 12.. which i believe has the best non-conference record this year, better than SEC. They beat 5 top 25 teams compared to Alabama's 2. They crushed opponents. Alabama didn't even play a team in october with a winning record. And their one loss came just days after the horrible plane crash killing two of their schools basketball coach and creating a very emotional environment on campus and in Stillwater.
Alabama didn't even make it to their conference title game, nevermind win it.

OK St, should trump Alabama for those reasons. And for icing on top, nobody wants to see another LSU-Alabama boring game except SEC fans. They had their chance, OK St offense is what the country would want to see.

  • Jack Greene - 12 years ago

None of the others won their conference championship. How can a national title game be had between the second best?

    Conference Champion in ()
No to Alabama (LSU), Boise St (TCU) & Stanford (Oregon)

  • jason hubbard - 12 years ago

GO POKES #2 Ya know , Everyone says the S E C is so strong. Lets just test them!!!!!!!!!! The two playin in the NC game should at least have won there conference, I mean come on a rematch that would be so bad that I think I would have to stop watching NCAA football all together.
With two SEC teams we will never know will we answer that one ? POLLS
