While I do appreciate knowing what people want/like - usually they are things FAR too expensive for any one person to buy, so there ends up being the 'donation towards' the item which is transparent and the person can easily see how cheap or broke I am. Buying something for them can hide the fact I found it on sale, got a great deal, or perhaps am simply re-gifting!
