Its quite distrubing and irritative at the same time.

You (the Ubuntu community and developers) should have the boys and girls in Redmond Wa. PISSING THEIR PANTS but you guys are too smart for your own good ,who cares what some users think of the login sound...it was iconic and not unlike the word "APPROVED" on the screen of the credit card device from a $2 purchase it was the sound of "good job" "you are smarter than those windows zombies".

For me, I've always got lags and jerks in the login sound, sometimes it didn't even play. As if to say my computer is just barely managing to keep it's sanity as it heaves the desktop environment into life. If the login sound was for "polish", surely it needed to play smoothly, anyway?
I do think this is a good decision, even if the sound plays smoothly.
