Should Tim Tebow be the Broncos' starting QB in 2012?

Tebow is young and he'll get better if someone will work with him. I can't wait to see his improvements next year and the years to come. He has shown such great character and leadership this season, and we desperately need more of this. GO TEBOW

  • pat - 12 years ago

David - come on rock solid defense ask Tom Brady! Patriots could of scored 70 pts, but they took it easy on them. The offensive line was horrible for Denver. The play calling all year with Tebow was horrible and the coaches deserve very little credit if any! Tebow is young quarterback that has heart and ability, but he definitely has proved he is a NFL quarterback. Maybe he doesn't have to have his ass wiped like Sanchez for the Jets and if he was on a matured team like the Jets he would be playing in the superbowl. Just give him time and yes he is not the best in the league, but he was overall one of the best for the Broncos this year!

  • David Michaels - 12 years ago

Why is everyone gushing over this guy? He completed less than half of his passes and had more turnovers than touchdowns. I wouldn't take him for a case of footballs. Tebow isn't a starting quarterback, face it. They won games because of their rock solid defense, not Tim Tebow. The coaches made great calls against Steelers and Tebow did make throws, but that is a very old, slow Steelers D. I don't think he was the best or even second-best QB on the Broncos this season.

  • eddie - 12 years ago

In the game i watched the offensive line did diddly swat to protect, either their bus didn't make it all the way to new england or the coach needs to be removed.Dan Marino said during halftime break that the only way the broncos could come back was if Brady played for them.Last i checked,i don't think Marino won a super bowl ring and also if Brady was behind the denver offensive line he would have been eating dirt also. Both sides of denvers squad just plain didn't show up or it"s just bad coaching. My vote is for sure Tebow stays....

  • Pat - 12 years ago

Denver is so fortunate that Tim Tebow came to their team, Jacksonville should be ashamed of themselves not picking him up. Tebow is a WINNER and has been the best thing for football in years. Give him the same opportunity to PLAY like Sanchez, Romo and all these other so called quarterbacks that are good players. He will rise to the top and I hope Elway follows through and guides him over the next year. It is NOT about money, it's NOT about is style, it's about what he will do with the RIGHT game plan. The Broncos have potential but are lacking across the board, which they all can improve. It starts with a PENNY and with consistant work this will compound tremendously. If they plan and follow the RIGHT plan, the Broncos WILL be in the Superbowl within 2 years.

Way to go Elway. Just heard you announce that Tebow is our quarterback for 2012. Great way to squash all the speculation and give Tebow your confidence.

Tim is the first NfL player that I sat my kids down ages eight, nine and twelve and said I have to tell you about a Football player and how this will become a Sports legend. Its to bad, I could not have told them about Kobe Bryant as the great NBA a player he is . Tim I hope is traded to Jacksonville and they move to Los Angeles, I did see him will his team to beat the Chargers and Raiders and knock them out of the Playoffs. Do you think Tom Brady would have won with Denver or if Tebow was the New England OB that night the score would be the same. I have always been a Charles Barkley Fan but he is not one to talk to your kids about in a positive way or Barry Bonds and the list goes on. Fans by products that sponsors in turn pay the Sports Franchises lots of money . Tiger let us down and now we have a person who can play Football . lets dont put him on the endangered species list to be hunted by people that can not walk the walk or talk the talk and back it up in life.

I hate how this article makes it seem like Elway and Fox are perfect and that the only thing to do is either give Tebow another chance or get rid of him. Elway is NOT God and shouldn't be in charge of deciding this young man's future. Fox is a brand new coach and as many mistakes that are attributed to Tebow should really be attributed to him. Why not get rid of him? Because he coached a team that got to the playoffs for the first time in 6 years. And Tebow was the QB of that same team. if we aren't considering dropping Fox, why would we consider dropping Tebow?

Elway is a has-been. He got us there a couple times, but his time is over. It's TEBOW TIME!!!!

  • Frank - 12 years ago

Play-calling is made by coaches. if you want to blame someone for the Denver loss, blame John Fox or Mike McCoy or Dennis Allen. Tebow didn't even get the play calls to throw the ball, and when he did, his passes were dropped. also keep in mind that it was the defense who let the game get away from us.

Don't blame Tebow. He brought us to the playoffs and we got a win.

Tebow should definitely be our starting QB this coming season

  • brandon - 12 years ago

How about we keep tebow an fire John Elway. The man who thinks every one should be like him. Sorry john you were good in colloge but it took a coach an a team to beleave in you when u came to denver. So beleave in tebow like myer did in florida

  • Papa Smurf - 12 years ago

ok, mtf, so you say it was ALL tebow's fault then? he lost that game single-handedly. so did he win the steelers game single-handedly too. you see, tebow was the factor that brought the broncos from 1-4 to the playoffs and a win over the steelers. there is nothing else that changed in that time. whether by his playing, his leadership or a combination, the broncos were losing without him and winning with him.

but he did NOT lose the game against the patriots all on his own. the whole team didn't show for that game. tebow did what he could with what he had, against a team and a quarterback that has been able to refine its game for over 10 years

should we have given up on elway since he didn't even take us to the playoffs in his first year?

  • Dan - 12 years ago

wow, mtf, did Tebow beat you out in college football or something? You seem very bitter. oh wait, you must be a Steelers fan! lol

  • mtf - 12 years ago

Denver fans say "Tebow got us there!" Critique him and then they hit you with "It was the team" or "he's not the only person responsible". I choose to look at the situation through different lenses. (OMG! Tebow is rubbing off on me.)

  • Patrick - 12 years ago

You know what? I've been a broncos fan for 34 years, but if they trade Tebow my loyalty goes with him. I am so impressed with this young kid who has such athletic ability, true leadership and a "never-say-die" attitude. Leadership goes a long way, and if you don't believe me, look at the 1-4 Broncos vs. the AFC West Champion Broncos this season. Talk to Tim Tebow's teammates. See what the difference-maker was. Anyone in the NFL can play football, but if you are a bad leader as a QB, it means nothing. I have realized in my life that things other than winning matter. It also matters how you conduct yourself when you lose. Tebow is such a respectable young man. He can win games. He can take teams that haven't seen a playoff game in 6 years to overcoming the best defense in the league. He can get a crowd to never give up. He can inspire a city...no a COUNTRY. Tim Tebow deserves to stay as the starting quarterback in Denver. But if for some reason they are stupid and decide to get rid of him, I will NOT be renewing my season tickets this year. I am being completely serious. If the Denver Broncos cannot give Tim Tebow the chance he deserves, they don't deserve my business. This country is so obsessed with popularity and winning and instant success all the way to the top that they can't see the development of a good football player into a great football player. Did any of the greats have a perfect season? Look at Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers. They are in the same boat as Tebow and the Broncos. Tebow has taken this team from losing to winning, from despair to hope, and this city has been blessed to be in on the ride. Tebow stays!!!!

  • brandon - 12 years ago

Its funnyy how every on is quick to say the broncos lost be cause of tebow. To all of you plus elway an fox the game i was watching was the hole teams fault. From Elway to the ball bo. The o line couldn't stop the d of new england an our d couldn't stop brady an his offince. So yes tebow should be the starter he erned it. Look at Elway how man super bowls did he loose before winning one. Plus he didnt not make the play offs his first year.

  • RDH - 12 years ago

I think Tebow deserves a chance if he devotes himself to offseason training. Unfortunately, I believe he will be distracted by his other priorities. I hope he improves enough to win the job for good. He is good for the NFL.

  • Bob - 12 years ago

mtf, so if people like and admire someone for something more than just playing a game, they are considered a "cult"? tebow has more going for him than just playing football well. he has character beyond anything we have seen in professional sports in a long time. in the era of people like michael vick and ben roethlisberger and suh, we need someone who can not only play football, but be a good example for the millions of kids and young adults looking up to them. tebow has proven that he can do both. he does not deserve your scorn and derision, and neither do his fans who value character, good deeds and leadership as well as athleticism and winning.

  • RDH - 12 years ago

ummmmm Chris.....the Broncos defense gave up 5 (count em), FIVE touchdowns to the Patriots in the first half of the game. A horrible defensive performance. With Dawkins out and Von Miller nicked they were embarrased by Tom Brady. Hard to watch.

  • Susan - 12 years ago

    This Broncos fan votes YES!

  • Football Fan - 12 years ago

mtf, get over yourself. why wouldn't the broncos give tebow the chance? he took them far this year, and he was working off a 1-4 disadvantage and no offseason practice.

  • trish - 12 years ago

A new GM, a new coaching staff, a new QB and all of a sudden the QB is the only one who needs to go. Give them all a few years and see what happens.

  • Tom - 12 years ago

If Tebow's not the starting QB for the 2012 season, my respect for Pat Bowlen, John Elway, John Fox and the whole Broncos organization will go down quite a bit. The kid deserves a full off-season of practice and a full season of play, at the very least.

How come people seem to keep forgetting that the Broncos WITH Tebow got to the playoffs for the first time since 2005, and the Broncos WITHOUT Tebow had sad records like 4-12....?

Say what you want about him, Tebow IS the reason we got to the playoffs this year.

  • Tom - 12 years ago

  • mtf - 12 years ago

Funny how when you have the same opinion as many sports analysists but it is not the same as a cult following, you are told you need to learn about football. lol

  • Mike - 12 years ago

He deserves a chance at a full season. He has at least earned that much. If they want to draft another quarterback, fine, but give him a full preseason and season of playing to prove his worth, then make there decision.

  • trish - 12 years ago

To compare Tebow to Brady is crazy. Brady is 34 and his team has been built around him. Tebow is 24 and filled in as QB after Orton. He needs a full off season and then a full season before trashing him. And if it's all about money, then he certainly needs to stay. He's certainly brought in $$$ to the Broncos. We'll all know the direction Elway wants to go after the draft.

Another thing---Tebow might not have personally scored those 4th quarter wins but he inspires the players by his leadership and he doesn't have to make the score to be a successful QB.

  • George - 12 years ago

YES, OF COURSE TEBOW SHOULD BE STARTER FOR THE BRONCOS NEXT SEASON! IF HE'S NOT, THE CITY OF DENVER WILL RIOT! SERIOUSLY! GIVE THE GUY A CHANCE AND THE RESPECT HE DESERVES AFTER THIS SEASON!

  • Pam Laffoon - 12 years ago

People are always so quick to blame the quarterback when things go wrong. Anyone who is a true football fan and has eyes could easily see he had no protection from his line. If you put Tom Brady on that line he would have been inconsistent too. The change that I see that needs to be made is to either get a better line that protects the quarterback or change the way they are being trained. Also, Tebow did not have adequate training himself this year. I think he now has the opportunity for intensive training and with some help on the line you could see a tremendous difference. It's frustrating to see "fair-weather experts" picking him apart when he actually turned the Broncos season aroound and he will tell you he did not do it alone. He is a team player and a very good one at that!

  • Sam - 12 years ago

Seriously, mtf, do you think that Tebow is the whole team??? He cannot control if a good pass is dropped or if the coverage fails or if no one is defending Gronkowski and Hernandez.

Football is a TEAM sport. If it weren't, they'd just get a couple QBs out there seeing who could throw the farthest, or a couple RBs out there to have a race, or a couple defensive lineman to wrestle eachother.

Learn about football before criticizing one of the best up-and-coming players in the league.

  • mtf - 12 years ago

I stand corrected! Brees and Rogers can get their respective TEAMS to score more than 10 points in the 2nd round of the playoffs.

    Thanks Miriam!

  • John - 12 years ago

I completely agree with Miriam. It was a TEAM loss not a TEBOW loss. Tebow brought them to the playoffs with his leadership and skills and drive and belief.

This guy has done great things for the Denver Broncos, and it was really just his real first season. Give him a break! What can he do with a full offseason to practice and the team given time to really work together....? He is gonna be a real threat next year! As is the whole team!

Contrary to what a lot of people say, Tebow is not God, nor is he supposed to be perfect. He is a respectable man who lives his life for something more than just a football game. Who happens to also be great at football.

  • Ken - 12 years ago

Tebow needs some fine tuning. Denver also needs better coaching. John Fox is not the answer for Denver. Tebow is an NFL quarterback and will be succesful with the right players around him and good coaching. Make good draft picks and find a better coach.

  • mtf - 12 years ago

I miss printed a stat! They had 4 wins by 3 points not 3. Looks like the KICKER should get the credit! lol

Last time I checked, only cart horses wore blinders, not broncos!

  • Miriam - 12 years ago

And mtf, I wonder if maybe the whole team is responsible for scoring points....not just the QB....?

Maybe if some of those receivers could catch the passes and the RBs could actually move and the defense and O-line could actually do their jobs, then TEBOW would have had more pts. too.

Since you obviously think that the QB is the one responsible for singlehandedly putting points on the board....

  • Miriam - 12 years ago

I would also like to say that Tebow and the Broncos had gotten barely 6 days of rest before playing the Patriots. The Patriots, and the Packers for that matter, got 2 weeks of rest! The Patriots 13-3 beat the Broncos 9-8, and the Giants 10-7 beat the Packers 15-1.....as far as I know that does not mean that the Broncos sucked in the playoffs, but that the Packers sucked in the playoffs. The Broncos beat the Steelers, and you can say all you want, but they were still the #1 ranked defense in the league.....

Tim Tebow has proven that he can get things done. One loss in the playoffs to a team that has had over 10 years to get their rhythym down does not mean that he deserves to be kicked to the curb and forgotten.

I hope that everyone in Denver will remember that we got to the playoffs for the first time in 6 years with this guy!! He was working off of a losing deficit 1-4, had not gotten any practice in the offseason, and had gotten very little practice during the season since he wasn't the starting QB from the beginning. Seriously....

TIM TEBOW SHOULD MOST DEFINITELY STAY!!!!

  • mtf - 12 years ago

Brees and Rogers can score more than 10 points in the second round of the PLAYOFFS, there Miriam! Please RE-READ my previous post!

  • JB - 12 years ago

Will Tebow be a Hall of Fame qB? Who knows? Did Tebow lead his team to the 2nd round of the playoffs? Yes, and they got beat by Tom Brady and the Patriots. The Green Bay Packers with phenomenal QB Aaron Rodgers also got beat in the 2nd round by NY Giants and no one is calling for a new QB in Green Bay. Interesting watching Green Bay yesterday, the network kept updating the "balls dropped" stat for Aaron Rodgers. I have never seen this stat shown for Tebow, but in the Broncos/Patriots game I can remember at least 3, if not 4 balls were dropped. Point is, Tebow and all of the Broncos had a bad game. Patriots were supposed to win as was Green Bay. Things don't always work out the way we think they should, and as Tebow said he will keep working hard to improve. I'm still a believer that the kid is a winner.

  • DP - 12 years ago

Batman - with all due respect stick to your day job. Don't become a GM. You need to learn the difference between personality and performance, real world vs fantasy football. This is real world, real money. The NFL is not the Christian missionary field, and no one in the NFL arena gets rewarded for proselytizing, only for producing wins.
Everyone loves Tebow as an unbelievable role model and inspiration - but saying you would chose a poor chance with Tebow simply for his inspiration - please. Then simply go overseas and find missionaries to fill the NFL draft. Then you would have the WNFL; and we all know that no one watches the WNBA.

  • Miriam - 12 years ago

Since when are we so concerned with instant gratification that we would consider getting rid of a QB who brought Denver to the playoffs for the first time in 6 years? So we didn't make it to the SuperBowl this year... Guess what, it's only Tim Tebow's 2nd year (first as the starting QB, and he took over when the Broncos were 1-4!)! What are Drew Brees' and Aaron Rodgers' excuses? Apparently they didn't "belong" in the playoffs either.

  • mtf - 12 years ago

NO! Tebow's record for regular season games shows "NO WINS vs. TEAMS WITH WINNING RECORDS", 5 of the 7 wins had only 18 or less team points (1W by 4pts, 3W by 3), against teams with winning records SLAUGHTERED (even by Buffalo ... BUFFALO!), they "BACKED IN" to the playoffs, he did NOT lead them in (that would constitute a winning record). BUT they did beat a BANGED UP STEELERS TEAM in a playoff game. Hold on to that memory Bronco fans, because the following week the Patriots showed you that YOU DID NOT BELONG IN THE PLAYOFFS!

Keep drinking that TEBOW Kool-aide! The guy is a great athlete, just not a NFL QB!

  • Batman101 - 12 years ago

I personally believe he should start. If football is a business, then business is good in Denver. He made Denver relevant..first time in years. He also happens to be one of the few guranteed role models left in professional sports. With that said, Denver needs to go all-in if Tebow is their starter. They need a backup QB that is similar, receivers that can catch and know how to come back to the ball when Tebow extends the play, and they need to expand the playbook to the myriad of possibilities when you have a QB with his skill set. I'm a Denver fan because of Tebow and I can summarize it this simply. I'd rather have a moderate chance with Tebow, than a great chance with somebody else. He is a special individual and what he brings to an organization goes way beyond football.

  • DP - 12 years ago

The jury is out on Tebow. Not ready for prime time, two monster losses vs Brady. Charisma and conviction are one thing; actual head to head combat in the real world is another. Entirely. The two performances vs Brady were jr varsity vs varsity; high school vs college. Can sheer determination overcome average talent? Maybe in Rocky 1-4; but this is professional football; nice guys don't finish first; they get rolled by the best.

  • Jason X - 12 years ago

Everyone STOP SAYING STUPID THINGS. Please!

Tebow is NOT a great QB. He's barely a good running back. Would you rather have Tebow in your backfield than Arian Foster or MJD? No? Point proven. There are tons of other Qbs better than him too. So what's the big deal? Why did Denver win with him if he's not so great? Because of their Defense? Simply put, his team-mates believed in him and he inspired them to play better. However, inspired or not, they hit the wall with the Patriots. There's only so much you can do with a team that is lacking in overall talent. Yeah, there are some good players on Denver. But do you credit Tebow for a 4-th quarter comeback when he never even attempts a pass, and McGahee rips off a 50+TD score to win the game? No. You credit McGahee and the O-line. But people are so enamoured with this guy that they turned him, ironically enough, into their Messiah on the field.

Bottom line: Tebow needs to work on his passing game and be a double threat (as Vick worked on his game) if he's going to have long-range success in this business. Personally, I don't think he has it in him to pull it off. He's gotten this far in his football career by running and throwing a football worse than ME. So I hardly think he's going to improve that much to make a difference in the near future. The Broncos should look elsewhere if they truly care about winning a Championship, which apparently they do not, since they care more about appeasing their fan-base which apparently is smarter than the coaches and executives in charge of hiring in their organization. (Please note the use of lots of sarcasm - for all of you who aren't the sharpest tools in the shed).

  • Dave - 12 years ago

The defensive secondary on the Broncos should all be fired....they were the problem! Brady riddled them with 5 TD passes and could pass at will anytime he wanted to.

  • Mike - 12 years ago

The reason Tebow and the Beoncos got to the playoffs is that Tim and The Broncos won more games. Even if their record was tied, they beat their division teams more often than they got beat. And they beat the Steelers in the playoffs! You can talk all you want about the defense, but if the defense was the reason for winning, then why didn't they win with Orton as QB? It was the same defense. Tebow was the difference maker, he was the factor. He was the leader. He was the winner. And he will continue to be next year as the Broncos starting QB.

    GO BRONCOS!

  • Chris - 12 years ago

Tebow didnt lead Denver into the playoffs, they skuirted in with an Oakland loss. A guy who can not complete more than 40% of his passes IS NOT a NFL QB. Denvers D is really good and it has kept Denver in a lot of games and IS the reason why Denver has had so many late come back wins.

Tebow can throw the ball through a barn door but not hit the mailbox out front. His accuracy will not improve enough to list him even as a good NFL QB. Tebow does have a lot of throws of 20+ yards simply because he can toss the ball in a general area and hope his GREAT recievers can catch up to the ball and make a play. Accuracy is needed in todays NFL and he simply doesnt have it.

Honesty hurts. I am sure he is a great guy and deserved a chance to start. But he shouldnt go on as a starting QB for any NFL team. Can anyone else name a rookie QB that has done better? Newton maybe?!

  • anwar green - 12 years ago

  • MileHighSalute - 12 years ago

First off everyone needs to stop ragging on Tebow... the man has done wonders for the Broncos. So the mans inconsistant and inaccurate... didn't know he was supposed to be fhe best right off the rip... last I checked he put up 316 passing yrds on the NUMBER 1 PASSING DEFENSE IN THE NFL. But no one seems to respect that feat. Or how about the fact he did more in half a season than a starting QB did... don't ever compare Tebow to Orton. Kyle sucks plain and simple I've been with denver since 93' and we've had our ups and down seasons but Orton wouldn't have gotten us anywhere but the 1st round draft pick. Tebow should start!!!!

  • tom - 12 years ago

I think god is just pulling Tebow's chain to get us humans all riled up. If the Bronco's can't find another QB they have no other choice. It should be determined next preseason.

  • Dona Mulhern - 12 years ago

He has lead them to their first playoff appearance and postseason victory since the 2005-06 season.

  • JC Freak - 12 years ago

d.m. says we should all get past all this religion stuff and understand the truth that we can all do what we want. Interesting concept which I guess give us the right to lie, cheat, steal and murder unborn children. That's an excellent point of view d.m. Unfortunately your bias against religion, your biggotry is what has no place in football. Tebow IS a leader and an exceptional athlete. For him to be able to use the talents he has to throw that team on his shoulders and carry them to the playoffs is exceptional. Yes, the Broncos should keep Tebow as their quarterback. And, football needs to recognize leading a football team takes more than just a perfect quarterback. Leading a football team takes greatness; and at his heart Tim Tebow has it.

  • Mark J. - 12 years ago

Yes yes yes! Do 2nd string QBs take their team to the playoffs? Nope. Leaders, starting QBs do that. Leaders like Tebow. He is just 2 years in, and last year doesn't really count. He took a losing team that hadn't been to the playoff since 2005 and brought them to a win in the playoffs against the Steelers! All you negative people, get over it!

Tebow is the whole package. And the best thing to happen to the NFL and sports in America for a long long time. GO BRONCOS!

  • Jeff - 12 years ago

Tebow is a remarkable all-round athlete and a class act as a role model for upcoming athletes and for youth of all ages, both boys AND even girls--even those in other sports. We really need this today. As a father, if I lived within 200 miles of Denver I would happily drive my sons to each game to see him play--win or lose!

But we have already seen him be a winner, and if John Elway could give him a couple hundred hours of his own golden touch on passing technique, I think it would be just what Tim needs to build his own confidence and convert him into the consistent double-threat q-back that Elway and Fox would like to see him become.

Apropos and worth repeating is the fact that the 24-year-old Tebow, and his Bronco team (the second youngest team by age ave. in the NFL) penetrated as deeply into the playoffs as did the Packers and Saints with their stellar-performing Q-backs.

    Go Broncos! [NC fan]

  • Tom - 12 years ago

If Brady Quin and ? are his competition, then Tebow should start. If they can get a more skilled quarterback on their roster then the Broncos should start that QB.

  • boo-hoo - 12 years ago

Notwithstanding all of the hype and wearing his religion on his sleeve Tebow has proven that he is at best a 2nd string quarterback. I was amazed that the game announcers trying to find something positive to say about Tebow talked about his high school victories. Even they could not put a spin on his poor performance. NO, TEBOW SHOULD NOT BE THE BRONCOS STARTING QUARTERBACK NEXT SEASON.

  • John from Wyo - 12 years ago

Tebow must improve on passing. He's a great athlete and leader, but a lousy QB for the NFL because he can't throw. He must shorten his release because he telegraphs all of his passes. I personally don't care about him wearing religion on his sleeve, but I do care about the Broncos getting better as a team. If Tebow can become a great passer, he and the Broncos will go to the next level and expect to win 12 games. If not, they will actually get worse as defenses adjust to the option attack. Go Broncos!

  • Bob - 12 years ago

Ok, let's think about this logically. Do you think that without Tebow the Broncos would have been in the playoffs??? No? Ok then, he has won his right to stay. End of story.

  • T-bone - 12 years ago

    He is an idiot!

  • Mahnigga - 12 years ago

if you let ROMO start.... this guys is way better than him.

  • BroncosGurl - 12 years ago

Yes!!! He hasn't even played a full season, and didn't have an off season, and STILL made it to the playoffs!! Go Tebow and Go broncos!

  • Sara - 12 years ago

Rod, I find your comment funny considering that Tebow and the Broncos WON the AFC West. Regardless of the last 3 games, we had a better record in the division because we beat you more than you beat us. And we beat the Steelers! No easy feat. So I think if a basically rookie quarterback can get a team to the same level of the playoffs as QBs like Brees and Rodgers, how can you NOT consider having him as the starter??? It would be ridiculous. Look at what Tebow did with the 1-4 record, and that was WITHOUT the benefit of offseason practice in the starting QB position. If we had kept Orton, we would have been 1-15 or Maybe just maybe 4-12 again like last season. Tebow should be committed to, if not for long-term, at least to the next couple years. He deserves that at the VERY LEAST. He has brought excitement back to the Mile High City. We want him to stay!!!!!

I voted yes. He is the BEST quarterback ever lived. He is only getting better day by day people need to get off his back about what he isn't doing in the game. He is better than any of the quarterbacks playing. I watched him in college and now in the pros. He is an exceptional football player and man. I met him recently and I must say u can't find a better kind hearted man.

  • BETTY - 12 years ago

HE WILL GET BETTER & BETTER. HE WILL BE A GREAT FOOTBALL PLAYER JUST AS HE IS A GREAT PERSON.

  • Neil - 12 years ago

Tebow can only get better! Tremendous upside with a competent coaching staff.

    Yes, please.

I said no, now don't get me wrong it did take a couple of minutes to actually press the no vote, I love who this kid is and what he stands for, you can not even debate that.
My thought process is that even though he did not have a full scale trainning camp and maybe didn't get all the reps needed prior to stepping into the starters roll, he still has played at a high level of football, after all he has played at Florida and in front of thousands of fans, he has performed in many high profiled games ( two national championships)
That being said and watching and cheering him on and hoping that he had all the success in the world, I just do not see him getting any better than say over a 50% rate, yes I believe he can get a lot better, but as far as a true NFL quarter back has to be at, as my vote goes - NO
I truely enjoyed the ride this season, and am a better man myself for watching this kid and how he conducted himself and he play, but at the end as a fan, it just got to be to much, it just
basically wore on you as a fan watching the struggles every game, and then at the end yes watching the come backs, but again that got very old.
I for one as a fan would like to see from start to finish, win or lose a more soild and consistant offense and solid quarterback play, it is clear that even though he is a battler and has a never say die attitude, this isn't the direction that is needed, and long term it just will not work, over time Tim Tebow is going to wear out/down that is just a cold hard fact.
If the Broncos do not decide to take this offense in a new direction in 2012, they will be seting back the organization two to three years just due to the fact of personnel that they will need to change or turn over to a more conventional offense.
Love the kid, sorry but No

I say yes, he is fun to watch

  • Cindy - 12 years ago

I say Yes! because he's the most exciting player to come to the NFL in a while. With him, you never know what may happen. He's so versatile, and his passing game shows signs of improvement. The Broncos would be idiots not to let him continue to be their quarterback, if for no other reason than that he is selling tickets and everyone wants to see him. Elway needs to remember that he is an administrator now, and needs to worry about the business end of things. If I had money, I would certainly pay to see Tebow play. And I would be satisfied watching him, even if they lost, just to see him develop. Continue to give him a chance!

Tebow is a great athlete. He has the drive, motivation, and is good at inspiring his teammates. With all of that said, Tebow needs practice and work, he needs to be able to practice with the team. Tebow needs an entire offseason and a full training camp experience in order to make real and lasting gains in his abilities. He didn't get that because of the lockout this last offseason. Yes, Tebow has issues, that much no one can deny, but give the man a chance to get in there and mesh with his team during the offseason. Let him have a chance to work through training camp and let's see how he does next season. If he gets Denver anywhere near the Playoffs again next year then I think they owe it to him to stick it out and invest more time in his performance. Not to mention the Bronco's are raking in cash from the attention Tebow brings so that is just an added incentive, not a reason to keep him, but an incentive nonetheless.

Funny to see agnostics bring JC and God into football conversation. Yes to start. With proper coaching and strategic o-line mgmt, they will return to the post season. I doubt any haters of broncos had any notion of them even making the playoffs with or without Tebow. Another great point, Tebow got as far as the new yards passing leader and td leading quarterbacks.

  • smon - 12 years ago

if he improves his passing game.

  • Nquinnusa - 12 years ago

With a full off season to learn from Elway, I am as sure of this young man as I was watching him at Florida for four years. Great motivator for the rest of a classic team.

he is fun too watch as a running back and as an option quarterback but i could play the position better. He is a religious nut and way over the top with it. g-d has nothing to do with football or any other sport. we have such a warped sense of religion that we would think that a long dead and gone j.c had anything to do with any of this. Denver won on defense and tebow had one good game. if you think g-d or jesus gives a crap about football you are as nutty as tebow.
religion is a form of social control to feed the mass of 99%. it is an excuse to wage war and grab power for the sick few of us who are able to crush our fellow man. religion is an awful weapon to wield against your enemies since the truth is you cannot verify or deny the existence of G-d.
Jesus was a Jew killed by romans because he was a good politician. there is a higher power who created us but if you think for a minute that this entity cares a lick about football you are too stupid. religion is a cancer on our souls and until we are free to think what we want when we want you will have war and destruction because of it. GROW UP and SEE THE TRUTH
Religion is a dangerous and scary way to put your misbehaving kids to bed at night. There is a higher power and it is your own heart and ability to be kind to each other and do the right thing

By the way, Tebow and the Broncos got just as far into the playoffs as Brees and the Saints and Rodgers and the Packers. So give them their due respect!!

  • Rose Reeves - 12 years ago

He got them to the playoff!!!!!! I trust John Elway to do what is best for the team. He is lots of fun to watch.

  • Miriam - 12 years ago

I said yes because if you all recall, Denver was 1-4 when Tim Tebow took over. He brought this team to the playoffs with his skills, leadership, motivation, and hardworking attitude. And we beat the Steelers in the playoffs!!! I don't care what anyone says, that is an amazingly successful season!! And all that without having the benefit of practice in the offseason due to the lockout. Seriously, he deserves to be our starting QB.

  • Terry Short - 12 years ago

I said yes. He has proved himself this past year. Did he have to learn some things the hard way? Yes, of course. Did he do some good things? Yes. Against the Patriots, he was having to scramble on every passing down. No protection will definitely lead to incomplete passes made on the run. Maybe they should draft some offensive linemen and defensive backs that can challenge a QB like Tom Brady. Little offensive line protection, along with poor defensive performance and you have a 45-10 game. Play-calling from the offensive coordinator has GOT to get less predictable! Tebow was voted as the top college player a few yrs. back and led his team to 2 Nat'l championships. Give him a chance and give him some confidence. He's actually done pretty good with the chance while so many keep running his performances down and trying to cut into his confidence.

  • Aaron - 12 years ago

I said yes because I enjoy seeing him consistently play like crap. He shouldn't be in the NFL but it is funny watching him play.

  • Chuck - 12 years ago

I said yes because he has now started only 1 full season of 16 games if you include playoffs. he did not have the benefit of working with coaches nor Elway in the offseason because of the lockout. And in training camp he got no 1st string snaps. Give him another year after he gets the "PROPER" coaching and then see where he's at. Another part of it is play calling. Everyone knows if you run every 1st down, the defense knows what you are going to do. They need to let him pass on 1st down BEFORE they get behind! The last thing is we need more playmakers besides Thomas. We also really need defense. After Miller broke his thumb he disappeared. Brady went nuts on them. We need DEFENSE!!

  • mason219 - 12 years ago

I say Mabey because Denver might draft a QB. And that might be kellin moore who I think could be the next Brady and is ready to start in the NFL as a QB. so moore as starting QB and tebow a starting tight end wildcat option.
