I am greatly blessed with my job as an Agriculture Teacher at a local high school. I graduated in 3.5 years with an Agricultural Education degree, and a minor in Animal Science from the utterly amazing NC State University! My graduation day fell on May 14, 2011. On May 3 I was informed of an opening at a school 20 minutes from my house (which is good living in the sticks, because we tend to have one high school per county!) I applied and received the job over 4 other individuals within 21 days of my graduation day. And that makes my degree useless? Even more impressive, my entire class of Ag Ed majors consisted of 27 students - as of right now, only 2 did not find an Ag teaching position in NC. That, my friend, is impressive! Considering most high schools only have 1 Ag teacher - the largest having 4, I am astonished that we all found jobs! But I guess it's that useless degree that really helped us out! Being in such a specialized teaching field truly made the difference. So now I just want to leave you with a thought. "What would you be without Agriculture?" I can tell ya... "Naked & Hungry!"
