First, support for the Diablos has dwindled over the years. A new arena will not solve the fundamental problem of getting community support for a major sports team, which means bodies in seats!
Secondly, an arena Downtown doesn't make sense in terms of traffic flow - unless it is built on the city hall site so there is easy access on and off the freeway.
Third, how about something for the entire family - like a children's musem? We are the only major city in Texas without one, yet our culture is one that promotes family activities that include everyone, from grandpa to toddler. THAT is something I could put my wallet behind.

NO, we can't afford any more public money projects, especially the kind that benefit the profit of a corporation in business. If a ball club is serious and has the capital, then they should either build their own or use Cohen by whatever means, thus using actual market demand to fund their endeavor. Massive defaults by cities, counties and states are on the horizon, and I can't believe that people still think that the private citizens can continue to bankroll the luxuries of business/government cushy deals. It has to end. The manufacturing and agriculture industries are the only ones that create new money. I'm sorry, but all jobs in any government or charitable organization do not create new money but only are paid from the new money that comes from creating items and commodities that did not exist before. If people want such a venture, then they can open their own wallets and send it to the ball club to make it happen. Leave mine alone.
