Hi. Just checking if this site is still active? There is a current petition to parliament asking for the 12 month deferral period to be lifted as viewed as discrimination, & for SaBTO to further review the rules-IT CLOSES 22nd October 2016. It only has just under 9000 signatures after 5 months online, we need 10000 for a response from government (??) and 100,000 for it to be debated in parliament-hopefully directing SaBTO to review newer evidence & create an individual assessment for donors, not bar whole groups. Besides which all of it is done on 'mutual trust' that your answers on the questionnaire are honest! There are lots, approx 50% of men on gay date/sex meet apps who are married or have a girlfriend. They won't admit that at screening, or tell their female partner so the whole thing is ludicrous & needs individual assessment but more importantly accurate fool proof blood donation screening technology, which is more or less the case with modern science. Anyway, I am shocked & saddened the petition hasn't been promoted more & I am resharing daily & asking others to do the same. I'm so working on a spoken word performance I can video & put out there to promote the petition. I will also email all the gay magazines & websites, as well as famous gays who have the forum & fans to do it. This isn't just about discrimination, it's also about helping save other people's lives as stocks are critically low according to their recent 'missing letters' campaign. Thank you for your comment. However I don't believe the poll is skewed towards negative responses as I have tried to include an option for all viewpoints.
'Yes, the new rules should stay' - this is intended for people who believe that MSM should have a 12 month deferral period.
'Yes, but we need another review' - this is intended for people who support the changes as a progression but believe that regulations could be taken further but if supported by medical evidence that the blood supply won't be compromised
'No, MSM should not be able to give blood' - this is intended for people who believe that the entire MSM group should be prevented from giving blood as they are a high risk group.
'Other' - this is for people who believe there need to be other considerations and I encourage them to leave a comment to share these.
Have you read the article that accompanies this poll on my blog? Hopefully the poll will then be put more into context. The article is my interview with a Lib Dem LGBT campaigner and the poll is intended to provide journalistic balance.

Why is this poll skewed towards negative responses? Clearly missing is an option for; "No I don't support the new rules, I think MHSWM should be able to donate responsibly".
