The Tyree catch was pure luck. New Yorkers are going to find out that Manningham is a super star wide receiver for many years to come.

C'mon final drive, up against his helmet, fighting off not one but 2 defenders. That was the catch though both were equally important to each win. I guess the Pats coach forgot to video tape the Giants walk-through as usual.

Manningham's was a perfectly executed, textbook catch under very difficult circumstances and tight tolerances.

There is no textbook that has anything to say about Tyree's catch . That's the difference.

They are not even in the same league. Manninghams catch, while silky smooth and timely, wasn't out of the ordinary. There have been many similar, and more spectacular catches on the sidelines than his. It didn't require the extreme skill and improvisation that Tyree's catch did. Don't forget, Harrison had his hand on the ball along with Tyree. Having one arm pulled down, while your falling backwards and then pinning the ball with your other hand to your helmet while your whole body is snapping backwards over the defenders leg, is off the charts in my view.

Tyree's was the better catch, and Mannigham's was the better play.

Mannigham's play was just perfect execution of a designed play; An incredible pass by Manning and a totally professional catch by Manningham. Both of them executed perfectly.

On the other hand, Tyree's catch was total mayhem, and wreaked of desperation; Manning scambling to get free, heaving a long wobbling pass down the middle of the field, Tyree having to leap to make the catch and getting mauled ferociously by Rodney Harrison on the way down, having one hand ripped from the ball, pinning ball against his helmet and finally getting both hands back onto the ball just as he's hurled to the ground. It could be another 100 years before there's a play as amazing as that play, in as big a situation as that one.

And by the way, Madonna is no kabbalist! This is an ancient spiritual tradition; she's into some watered-down instant-enlightenment version that they have out in LA; just a travesty. It's like the rich guy who buys a yacht, gets himself a sailor suit and invites his mom for a cruise. He puts on the sailor suit and shows himself to his mom and says, "Mom, how do I look?" She tells him, "By me you're a captain. By you you're a captain. But by a captain, you're no captain!"

Tyree had to fight the defender for the ball, with it pressed up against a slippery helmet. I don't know how he held on. Manningham made a great catch, and did a good job getting feet in bounds, but that's something you practice all the time. Tyree couldn't practice what he did.

Giant fan since the days of Allie Sherman...

Brian really said it all. Mario's catch was brilliant, but you must go with David Tyree because his was remarkable given how he needed to improvise by holding the ball against his helmet on his way down, but it was all that more spectacular given Eli's escape from what looked like a certain and game changing sack. New England, Boston - whose your daddy?

I voted Tyree's's catch as better only because of the game, with the patriots being undefeated. I think they were both great catches and don't believe either catch is better than the other.

If you assess the whole play, sure, Tyree's catch is way greater, but as of the catch itself Manningham had to do something way more spectacular.

Tyree had a jump ball in the middle of the field. Mario had two defenders on him and had to contend with the sideline and getting his feet in bounds. Mario's catch was much, much harder.

Joe Buck couldn't have called the Tyree play any more deadpan than he already did. Giselle could have caught the pass that Manningham caught... It was perfectly thrown. Any average receiver could have caught that. Also, Madonna is a cabbalist.

this just means that 30% of people didn't see the game 4 years ago. Even comparing these two catches is stupid.
