I actually have a couple of concerns as a devout Christian. To name a prayer posture (where we are supposed to be humbling ourselves before God) after a human places the emphasis on the wrong person. Also when non-Christians assume this pose they are actually mocking Jesus - not Tim Tebow. Matt 27:29 says that the soldiers (who were going to lead Jesus to be crucified) "twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand and knelt in front of him and mocked him". It made me grieve a little to see Tim participating in "tebowing" with those who are not committed Christians - such as Alec Baldwin or Maria. At least they have not publicly expressed any faith.
Matthew 6:5 also comes to mind. I know people like to think this is just in fun but it is so easy for something to cross a line and be dishonoring to God. I can't imagine people of other faiths being fine with those outside of their religion using something important to them to gain attention. I know a lot of people think they are paying a compliment to Tim by "tebowing" but as Christians we always point the light toward Jesus not ourselves.
