What did you think of Ted telling Robin "I love you"?

I agree with Matt. How can we "know" for sure that Ted ends up with their mother. I mean obviously for a time he does. It's possible that Ted and Robin could end up together, after something happened to their mother, but they call her Aunt Robin out of respect for her.

I'm getting so SICK of this show already..... It's got almost NONE of the wit, humor and interest that it used to have. It's boring, repetitive, and I'm beginning to now even CARE who the fucking mother is anymore. Even if it's Bar Rafaeli or Angelina Jolie, it's just not worth the wait anymore.....
I'll watch the Barney/Robin wedding episode when it airs, and I'll watch the last 3 episodes of the show when I find out that it's over, but I'm done.

You'll find the new episode following this actually helps Ted get over Robin. In which Robin decides to move out. Which will now have more room for Ted to move on and eventually meet the mother. Remember it all ends at season 8. And were getting closer and closer to it. This show is not for everyone especially for the impatient. But a show can't last for 3 hours worth of 6 episodes for a general telling.
He's telling his kids who he had to become before he met their mother, at the same time sharing with his kids how broken hearts are mended, how things don't go as planned etc. He's just being their father. And not many people like the way the story is told. I myself enjoy it.
But probably stop hating on the show, this scenario had to happen if Ted can move on. And it's finally happening.
As for Barney and Robin it won't work. But this Barney and Karma thing is really making up for whatever everyone is complaining about in my opinion!

It's tired. They don't ever show the mother in the future segments while he's talking to his kids because the whole "point" of the show is the hanging question of "How I Met Your Mother." They somehow believe that by revealing the identity of the mother the show would be ruined. I stopped watching this show at around season 4 because Ted is an indecisive and sad man who, quite frankly, whines to much. I get that in real life you might have to date a few lemons to find your lime but Ted over the course of the show managed to become my least favourite character that I was rooting for the absolute least. In fact, I would like this show much more if they removed Ted, replaced him with almost any male actor, and just let everything else continue as normal. They would get into antics, Barney would say funny things, and Robin would have complicated relationships with men and the new frontman would meet some woman who he eventually knocked up.

Hold on... How can we be absolutely sure, Ted ends up with the kids mother ?

I think it rather unlikely, knowing Ted, but there is the off chance, he is telling his kids how he met their mother, because he isn't together with her anymore. Or maybe she died or something along those lines.

So we don't really know if in 2030 he won't end up with robin, because the mother is long gone and now that she is, he tells his children about her. Maybe they dont even know her.

So although I AM tired of the robin+Ted story arc, I wouldn't dismiss it out of hand. Especially since in none if the "future" scenes the mother is anywhere in sight. Teds always alone, but everyone else is there still.

i don't think its like ross and rachel in friends. although the show sure uses friends as a source of inspiration at times. im getting really tired of how i met your mother and teds seek for love. id rather see barney get back with robin.

Errr it is different because we KNOW that Robin isn't the kids mother and they call her Aunt Robin. So we know they do not get together right from the outset, so what is the point of them getting back together.

No less different than the Ross/Rachel relationship in "Friends".
