Defense was a C, tops, during the regular season. A+ in the playoffs. Aggregate = B.
BTW, the defense allowed zero points to the Falcons. That shouldn't have to be pointed out.

Too much reliance on the pass rush. Needed more consistency at LB and DB. Asserted dominance in playoffs, however.

For a championship caliber team, the linebacking crew is second tier, at best. Boley is O.K. but a series of 4-6 round draft choices and free agents are just not getting the job done on a consistent basis. Upgrade this unit with a high draft choice and/or free agent signing. They have jerked Kiwi around since he's been here. If Osi goes and Kiwi stays, they might consider bulking him up 10-15 lbs and putting him back at DE where I think he is better suited. Last year's #1 & 2 (Prince and Austin) were injured/non factors. With a full training camp they should be able to make their presence felt. They need to make sure Thomas resigns. If Prince is not the answer, they will need another cover corner. Best case, Ross is a nickel.

This B was a year long grade. Obviously the "D" was an A+ at the end of the season. Again it seemed injuries hurt the squad. I still think LB's were the big question. Due to the injuries all year we don't know how they would have worked out from the start. Damn what a finish though. Great job by Chase on the comeback kid act. Comeback of the year candidate in my book. I sure wish Osi would come back, but that doesn't seem likely.
It was the injuries I graded them a B due to the fact that they won when they had to against awesome offenses at times though they were horrible against the run they play tough and not that I look 4 injuries but NYG does do significant damage to an opponets injury report

Up and down best describes this year. At times they appeared to lack conditioning other times they were flying around. Consistency could be better for sure. They did a good job with what they had to work with. Bringing Chase back turned out to be the best signing of the year. The interior D line was outstanding. Next year the D should be dominating.
