Better, new technologies created more food, jobs, and resources for people.

Worse, people had no choice but to work in unsafe factories or mines which risked their health.

Better, although working conditions was bad for the working class, life still provided more opportunities than rural farming villages.

Worse, farm laborers had no choice but to be a part of the industrial working class after being forced off their farms.
