Which 90-win team will disappoint?

The tigers poor defense and mediocre pitching after the 1-2 punch of Verlander/Scherzer will cause this free-pass-to-the-playoffs team to dissapoint with a early exit.

I'm a hardcore Cardinals fan. They play in a great city with great fans. Yes we are used to being the underdogs and getting no respect, but we like it like that. It doesn't stop with us though. The NL Central gets no respect all together. The Brewers are a good ball club. I look forward to some great games during the coarse of the season. 12 in '12 baby!!!! Go Cards!!!!

No love for the Reds? They can win the central too

    Brewers will win central.

No respect for the NL Central in general. The Cards and Brewers will finish 1-2 in the division in some order. I think the losses of La Russa and Pujols outweigh the Brewers loss of Prince, and ultimately the Brewers should win the division. But both of these teams still have outstanding pitching and good offenses. To say they will under-perform is a gross overreaction to offseason moves (both teams did a good job to compensate for their losses).

Aging rosters in Philadelphia and New York, untested rotations in Boston and Texas, and a historically bad-looking infield defense in Detroit should provide far more concern than the roster changes in St. Louis and Milwaukee.

I'm a Brewers fan and i think it will be tough to win the central also just for note Cards have second best rotation in the central lol................But i went with the Yankees only reason why is i dont see them winning the World Series plus second best team in divison maybe even 3rd and if you dont win the big game your season is a wash with the money they have tied up....

Thank You John Sands, The Cardinals are still very good. Switch hitters at the top of the order, plus Matt Holliday. The best rotation in the division (with Oswalt coming mid season). Not to mention this is the best bullpen they have started the season with for a long time. As we all saw how successful they were with lefties last year ( who they didnt acquire till the trade deadline).
So I'm personally feeling real good about Waino back, a full season of furcal and the 2 lefties in the pen, and Beltran. I would have to think the 4 things I just mention will account for the wins that left with Albert (who will age faster than people expect, have fun LA) Not to mention a much improved defense without Berk in right field....Only two teams on this list I'd be worried about are Rays, and the Princeless Brew Crew

Anthony--There's no argument about the loss of Albert being big--that's obvious. I believe John Sands' point (and mine, for that matter) was that he was shocked that they have a large % of votes. It's called a "personal opinion"... Your opinion is that you are *not* shocked.

(Also, I wouldn't mind having Berkman at first for the Astros)

None the brewers will win central again the cards r just as gd n other one just got better plus brauns positive test was alberts test theres no freaken way a guy can come back from a wrist n sholder injury in two weeks without help n b better this aint the 90s

I picked the Rangers, mainly due to the uncertainty of their pitching. Also, while potent, I can see their offensive production dropping off from last year. Cardinals are a popular choice, I see. I can see them disappointing if the injury bug hits and/or their bullpen doesn't perform. (We're looking at you, Jason Motte. Hope your cutter is sharp this year.) I don't think the Brewers are as bad off as many think. Their CP and set-up man are both lights-out and they still have strong pitching. The loss of Fielder won't impact the team as much the consensus thinks.

There is absolutely no way the Diamondbacks do better than the Brewers this year!!! Mark my words, Brewers win the Central again this year!!! Tony La Russa is gone...Albert is gone. Tony is the only reason they made that run to the playoffs last year. Without him, Braves would have been in.

  • Anthony - 12 years ago

Why? Because they just lost the best player in baseball from their roster, which really wasn't all that strong to begin with.

  • Lastros - 12 years ago

I agree with John Sands. Even as an Astros fan (who hates the Cardinals and Cubs), I don't see why they would have such a high percentage.

Cardinals get absolutely no respect.... good thing they are used toi it.
