Take the $10 and remove the negative feedback. Should have contacted the seller before posting the negative feedback and given him a chance to make the situation right.

Seller is now trying to fix the situation letting you keep the cable and giving you $10 for your trouble... $10 you can take to Radio Shack and buy a 15' foot cable and have money left over to buy yourself a Coke.

Take your free 4' cable, sell it on eBay and then profit!

Or, you can just be a mean person and let the feedback stand.

Customer has an issue with something and the seller gave him his money back and then some in order to remove negative feedback, that sounds like excellent customer service and preservation of your business entity. I would of agreed to it and never questioned it further, after all mistakes do happen, since it is how you fix those mistakes that matters.

He should just accept a refund for what it cost (2.69) and then remove the negative feedback. Some times the International dealers make honest mistakes. I have found most of them to be very honest, even more honest then some US sellers. Some poor soul in China may have to work for hours on end to recoup that $10.oo. Just think that if that was bought in the US the shipping would be more then that. As far as the long time to ship that is normal for stuff from China and it is stated before you make the bid. If the seller was a hard nose & a jerk then I wouldn't remove it at all, but in this case the seller has reached out & apologized .

Sounds like the seller is concerned enough to admit their mistake and give a monetary concession. I would happily remove the feedback.

    Is your integrity worth $10?

Before leaving negative feedback, I would have requested the seller send me the item I wanted, or, more probably because of the long shipping time, a refund. If the seller corrected the problem to my satisfaction, no negative feedback. I think that it's good policy to give the sellers a chance to correct the error.

They went above and beyond to make you happy with the $10. Sounds deserving of positive feedback to me....

Absolutely do not accept money in exchange for removing negative feedback. You are doing a disservice to other customers that might also get screwed by this seller. As a matter of fact you should update your review stating that the seller offered money to remove your review. I'm pretty sure this is against EBay's TOS for you and for this seller.

The month-long wait can't be fixed outright (only ameliorated with some cash), but the cable length issue seems not to have been fixed. If it were me, I would tersely respond that I want a 5-foot VGA cable, not 10 bucks. Because that's what I went on eBay to buy (a VGA cable).

I'd tell the seller that the best course of action (from my point of view) would be to ship a real 5-foot VGA cable to me as expeditiously as possible. Whether that amounts to $10 or not wouldn't matter to me anymore.

If they want to improve their chances of a stellar review, maybe refund the original purchase as well. It's only $2.69, anyway. I doubt the seller will miss it.

The only ethical way to accept the money would be to remove the feedback but in the revised feedback, note that the $10 payment was made. If he chose, he could phrase it something like "After an issue was brought up, the seller reimbursed me fully for both the value of my item and the hassle that was caused. Great service!" That may not be exactly what the seller wants, but in my mind, anything less than that level of disclosure is patently deceptive.
