Do you believe Drew Brees knew about the Saints' bounty system?

How can the "unquestioned leader" of a team be completely unaware? Understood that there is always some sort of offensive/defensive divide but they share the same locker room. He knew. But is it his responsibility to rat his coaches and coordinators out?

First you demand a response from Drew Brees and then you 'evaluate' his answer and reword it until it fits your truth. US journalism at it finest. Did it ever occur to you the words "real bounty" meant Drew was talking about what many football players have been refering to that is league wide and started long before Greg Williams? Or the fact men yammer at break neck speed in the locker room, not stopping to take their bravado to heart. How many times have we all uttered the sentence, "I'm gonna' kill him! (her)" and never lent action to the 'threat.' If you really are some sort of sports reporter and not just some lonesome blowheart looking to up your readership, why don't you question the timing of this report, or the true reasons behind it or can't you investigate the League trying to cover its butt before the trials for retired players begin. Has it ever dawned on you that players are speaking openly and often about the 'bounty' providing much needed evidence from a usually silent brotherhood? Obviously not, keep hammering at true gentleman who spoke up because we asked him to, then pass judgment on his words and tell us all what Drew really meant. Pathetic.

$500 to any high school football player that takes out Florio Jr. next season.

As a Saints fan, I don't agree that a "bounty" system is appropriate. However, I seriously doubt that the Saints did anything that most, if not all, of the other 31 teams did. Let's be real; aren't we all thrilled when one of our defensive players makes a hit that is hard enough that the opposing player leaves the game or at least seems affected by the hit? I have not read anything that indicated that the "bounty" system resulted in serious injury to another player. Presumably, if the hit made wasn't acceptable to the referees or NFL, the involved player would be penalized/fined. The money involved was trivial, compared to what the potentially involved players made and is really a red herring. In reality, this investigation exposed a dirty little "secret" (likely known to many more than will now acknowledge it) that was a common practice on most if not all teams. People who are disgusted by what they have heard/read are naive or disingenuous.

On some level, he knew about this. I doubt he was directly involved. Not speaking up is what 90% of the population would do. It just means he's a normal guy. It would be great of he was some kind of hero but he could still be a good guy.

I've always had respct for the Saints, even though I'm a Panthers fan, but things like this are disgusting, and I have lost all respect for the Saints organization, and I hope the organization and every player involved not only gets suspended for the 2012 season, but are fined at least a seven digit fine per player and the organization
