Thanks for the comment Todd. The reason we prefer to sanitize the water or use vodka is that when using better bottles or plastic carboys, it's actually very hard to move the carboy without some of the airlock water dripping into the beer.

I would think most people would use just water.... straight from the faucet. It doesn't touch the beer.
