I say no, but but would find it acceptable if they have been naturalized for as many years as the age at which a natural citizen can run himself .

By that I mean they have to have lived here after gaining citizenship for as long as I do no matter what their age was when they gained citizenship here living here just a few years is not enough

It's about time the Americans voters wake up. I served this country in war with honor, but I can't be president. I bet my children would go through the same thing the Right Wingers are doing to Obama: calling him a foreign born, and a Muslim.
Peoples who are referring to the constitution in this matter, remember we could always amend the document.

J Dugan.. Obama is an American Born President.. Get over it.

I wonder if a Native American could be elected president. Not a chance.. racism runs rampant in the good ole USA. There continues to be questions of Romney being qualified to be president because he is Mormon... Back in the day (1960s) It was a big deal the JFK was elected. The talk was that he would move the Vatican to the US, because he was Catholic...

My point is naturalized citizens don't have a chance to be elected president...

All four of my grandparents were naturalized citizens. Out of respect to their memory, I would allow naturalized citizens to become President after being a citizen for a specific period of time, perhaps 15 years.

In my religious, Judaism, when someone converts to Judaism, they are at that moment as Jewish as Moses. If Mr. Fareed Zakariah wants to run for President, he should be able to do so. But, not until 2016. I want Obama to be re-elected in 2012.

We have that now and look where we are. If you allow naturalized citizens to be president you get obama and a UN run socialist state.

I am a naturalized citizen, but I would only vote an American born. The country have so many high offices they can run for, but not the President office.

Section One of Article II of the U.S. Constitution states that the President must be a natural born citizen of the United States and it should stay that way. I think that loyalty and love for the country of a persons birth are values that should be represented in our highest office, and it could avoid perceived or actual conflicts of interest in dealing with international issues. This is not an unusual practice throughout the world; in most developed countries and third world countries as well, it is required that you are a citizen by birth to hold a position as president or prime minister. Is our own country drying up that bad when it comes to Presidents, that we have to look beyond our borders? Some may say yes, but I still have hope.

Lived in California for 55 years. Served in the US Navy for 6 years. Worked in Defense and Aerospace for 32 years. Several security clearances issued by the Department of Defense.

But I can't be president. I was born in Canada and moved to the US at age 15 months.

America has a bumper crop of home grown nuts we don't need to import anyone.
Measuring by the - Insane Republican Clown Posse - even you Fareed would make
an extremely poor candidate. You could never be trusted to completely abandon
your Intelligence, Logic and Honor in pursuit of a political goal.
This country isn't ready for rational political discourse let alone Democracy.
I vote for the Status Quo, where the enemy’s of Republican Democracy are native
    and clearly defined.

Look at it in another angle. Hving this restriction deprives not only the naturalized citizens of holding the highest public office of the country that they call their motherland, it also deprives natural born citizens of electing another US citizen as their President, however much they believe he/she is the best suited person for the job at a certain time if unfortunately he/she happened to see the light of the world at birth in another geographical area that is not a part of the U.S. It's so pathetic to see how the US could uphold such unddmocratic values!
