George, Cowboy fan, sour grapes boys.

PMs, if he played for your team you'd think different. Join the group above.

Raiderroy, as Steelers fan I fundamentally hate the da Raidahs, but I agree with comments. It's a shame those guys aren't in.

Hines Ward belongs in HOF. He was receiver that played the position with mentality of a line backer or safety. And for 14 years on one team. Those players he drilled were all done within the rules of the game. How can you call him dirty when teams all over the league have bounties on offensive players?

Sad day for Steelers and NFL fans in general , but as with every Great Player they have to end someday. 14 Years is a ~Long~ time in the NFL. Here's to a Great Player and Future Hall of Famer -- The NFL will miss you & never forget you.......

By saying Ward should one day have a bust in Canton isn't the same as saying Carter, et al don't belong there, as well. Carter's time will come, and I'm curious about what reasons the committee has for voting against his being there.

However, Ward's contributions as a wide receiver go beyond his pass catching and running abilities. He was, at best, a very good wide receiver in his prime who happened to play (some would say) beyond his abilities.

But he was a GREAT football player who played with a lot of heart.

Loved watching the Steelers draft pick after pick on new receivers (three first rounders) only to have him step up year after year to outperform them, and teach the young'uns how to put it all on the line for the team and teach them that in Pittsburgh, your receiving stats are secondary to the needs of the team, and if you're called to block downfield or spring a runner to win the game, you do that job as best as you're able. They don't have stats for that, but if they did, Ward would be first all time.

Not that I'm without bias, but I never bought into the "Ward is dirty" argument. That sniffs of sour grapes. No one sheds any tears when a 205lb receiver takes a shot when going over the middle, but a 250ish lb linebacker in pursuit of a runner gets hit at shoulder pad level from the front and side, it's time to change the rules?

Sorry, guys. Not looking for anyone to get injured, but if as a defensive player, you don't want to get hit, stop chasing after the ballcarrier or be ready to protect yourself when you do. This is football. Play at your own risk.

Who knows whether Canton will ever induct him. Out of my hands. Good luck to him, though!

If he wasn't even the best of his time, how can he be one of the best of all time?

like it or not he is a hall of famer if you don't think he was a "player" on the field ask anyone on the Baltimore Ravens team.

I give ya Flores as a coach, Lechler will be the first Punter and Plunket had 3 winning seasons as a QB. .500 for his career, hardly H.O.F material. Better luck with Jay Schroeder

He needs to get in line behind Cliff Branch! The NFL Hall of Fame is B.S. when players like Jim Plunkett, Tom Flores and Ray Guy have not made it in!
