    Oh really Jack,

    Of course the poll was rigged, internet polls always are. Fanboys and bloggers always point users at polls in order to bias the result.

    My point is that there are many more Android and iPhone users out there, so how come Windows Phone won, despite having something like 2% market share?

    Because WP users love their devices and that's why you should think they're the best: User satisfaction is very very high.

    @everyone who doesn't understand me
    LOL, Ok, I completely understand your point, I actually did from your first posts but its obvious that your still not understanding mine, I wasn't saying android phones are Ferrari's, I was stating Ferrari's can't be compared to Kia's, I said it several times but some don't read and comprehend at the same time, it was a side comparison that no one seems to get , but the money comparison people get so ill leave it at that. I'm not trying to change your mind of what phone you want or should have, I'm simply stating this poll is rigged and its been obvious from the beginning that Windows would win. If you put all of these phones in a professional's hands who is not biased to one OS then the outcome will be different. There are websites out there dedicated to this with multiple people showing us the goods and bads of the phones. But then again thats just a few people who know everything there is to know about phones giving their professional opinion. The great thing about the "cell phone market" is that we all have choices and there is range of phones to suit each and every one of us, all phones and carriers have a flaw somewhere and we will always have to deal with it. I see Windows as the gap filler between Apple and Android, with Apple as Ian stated is their way or the highway, With Android its all your way, Windows took both and made it the "yours and ours" way.I will always give any phone a shot at being in my pocket, I am not biased to any OS or brand. The way the phone feels in hand can be a deal breaker though, as is too big or too small, I'm sure we all have our preferences and thats the way it will always be, and thats the way it should be.

    @Jack

    Thanks for your response, but I think you still don't get it. If you accept a car's primary purpose is transportation, Ferrari's aren't good cars; they're expensive to buy, expensive to run and there's no place for the shopping, leave alone the kids.

    Ferrari's are status symbols, they look nice, sound loverly, but are pretty useless.

    I'm sure Galaxy Nexus's are nice, but they should be, given the amount of processing power they have, but they're not Ferraris, which are at least elegant. A top end Android phone is more like an American muscle car: a Corvette or something, which looks like a Ferrari, but couldn't stay with one on the road.

    Here are the main reason's I will NEVER own an Android device of any description:

    1. Security - there are apparently over 5 million Android devices in the world infected with malware, an increase of over 3000% during 2011. The whole point of a smartphone is so you can carry sensitive information with you without porting it to a criminal through the free app you thought ran your Twitter account.

    2. Privacy - Google's core business is advertising and in order target you with adverts, they use Android devices to track your movements and your search terms. Now my movements and what I chose eat when is my business and no one else's. Microsoft's core business is software and I'm happy I'm not under surveillance from them.

    There's an awful lot more to consider when choosing a device than just specifications, especially when smartphones take such an important place in our lives.

    Just for balance and as an ex-user of a 3GS , here's why I wouldn't have an iPhone:

    1. The screen is too small. A high resolution screen is very nice, but no use if it's too damn small.

    2. iTunes is old and creaky, and made a complete mess of my Outlook calendar on both my phone and PC. Luckily, I made a back-up, but I ended up carrying a Windows Mobile phone to keep my appointments on. So I was paying premium rate to carry two devices and the 3GS couldn't even tether.

    3. Once you've put data into Apple's hands, try getting it out again. Really, if you get another phone - say because you want a bigger screen - there's no easy way of transferring YOUR data. You can't even save your contacts to the sim card. Apple is a one way street. With Steve Jobs dead, let's hope that doesn't turn into a cul-de-sac.

    4. Apple snobbery. No, not Apple owners - who can be complete d*cks, but iPhones/iPads won't connect with non-Apple phones over bluetooth or facetime. No swapping address details wirelessly with a Blackberry user. You can of course download a Tango or Skype app for video calls, but shouldn't this functionality be there already?

    5. Lack of choice. Want a phone with a keyboard? Want a bigger screen? Want a nice colour? Tough luck, schmuck.

    6. Predictive text. I wonder if Apple did this as a joke, but the indelicate/rude/offensive suggestions which the phone offers is downright stupid and has lead to embarrassing situations. The predictive text feature on Windows phones seems to have a decent idea what I want to write and doesn't embarrass me - I can spell those words myself. :)

    7. The Apple Way. I bought an iPad as a convenient way of being able to write on the move, but Pages doesn't save in Word format and keypad doesn't even have a Tab key. Going online, I find out that the Tab key is considered obsolete and that I should place four fingers on the space bar, which predictably gives four spaces, not a tab. Also, there are no arrow keys to control the cursor, so I keep breaking my rhythm touching the screen and then adjusting the position, assuming the whole word isn't selected when I wanted to place another word in front of it. In Appleland you do things the Apple way or not at all, but Apple don't know what I want as well as I do.

    To those who thinks android phones are like ferraris..stop, they just arent..! theyre actually like expensive gas-guzzling suvs with bling all over and big multiple cylinders (read cores).. while wp7s are like less expensive mitsubishi evos with smaller engines, but waaaaaaay faster..!

  • Jack - 12 years ago

    @ian too, if you read my post it states that this poll isn't whats more accommodating for people, not what is easier to use, its for the best. We all know that Adobe Photoshop is one of the best in editing softwares, but i'm terrible at it and still trying to learn. But because i found a different editing software that suits me and does what i need and its 10 times easier doesn't make it the best. So if i told you i would give you a Kia or a Ferrari you would take the Ferrari, if your smart of course, because you would sell the Ferrari and buy 10 Kia's which are way more practical BUT, not better.

    @wright13, I think you have me mistaken, I do like Windows phones and the 900 is a good phone, its not what I prefer but that doesn't make it not a good phone, I wasn't bashing windows phones, I was stating how this poll has been rigged from the beginning because there are a few top tier phones that got knocked off by some Ok phones, there is no way the top 2 phones out of all the ones listed are windows phones, the 900 is no slouch, so with some argument i can see it at the finals but not the 710, the specs alone don't give it enough credibility to even be in the final 4. You might think this is my opinion but facts are facts , Im not saying I know what is best for everyone, I am saying that the 710 is not the second best smartphone out of the ones listed.

    @sexyvampire, Fail

    Maybe it will be easier to understand if i said it like this, can we all agree that 200 dollars is better than 50 dollars, good because your in denial if you can't, now i can take 50 dollars and get what i need if i do my homework and be completely satisfied with my purchase or lunch or whatever it might be that i was intending it for, and i can also take 200 dollars and get the same satisfaction in someway, shape, or form, but theres no denying that the 200 dollars is better. That being said, no one will say a Kia is better than a Ferrari, it might be better for certain tasks but its not better. Again this is supposed to be a poll for the best smartphone not what is better for its cost , not what category it falls under, or what market its going for, but the best. The Titan 2 is way better than the 710, if the Titan 2 lost to the nexus than the 710 is dust, and that theory is as simple as the Windows OS. Knowing this is a Windows based poll it was only logical to know the 900 was gonna win, but this lost all credibility when from the get go the 4s, One x, and the Note lost to lesser phones. If Android or Apple were gonna rig something like this they wouldn't have made it as obvious from the starting gate.

    ohh android is cheap and low quality OS .. i saw android in local chines mobile phone ... android OS level not high .. android sucks

  • Mahesha999 - 12 years ago

    Actually the two phones are targeted to two different markets. Lumia 710 is for low-cost market while Lumia 900 is a flagship. I feel the two are the best in their own categories. Both should win.

    Read here why Lumia 710: http://www.gottabemobile.com/2012/01/04/t-mobile-usa-nokia-lumia-710-review-best-value-windows-phone-7-smartphone/

    And about Lumia 900 - it won best of CES 2012 Mobile category from Cnet.

  • wright13 - 12 years ago

    @jack

    I appreciate you voicing your opinion but if you could please just leave at that, an opinion. Like so many others, you are talking like you know exactly what is best for everyone and that there isn't any possible way someone could think differently.
    I think WP is much more modern and efficient than any other OS. So in my mind, Windows phone is the Ferrari. It's a completely subjective analogy. Besides, I bet you never have given WP a real chance anyways.
    Also, the reason the SGIII isn't included because it hasn't even been announced yet and nobody knows anything about it. Unlike the Lumia 900, which is already available for pre-order

  • Ian Too - 12 years ago

    @Jack

    Actually lots of people would say a Kia is a better car than a Ferrari, because a Ferrari is no good down the supermarket and can't carry any luggage. A car which gives you 15mpg is no use to the vast majority of people and neither is one which keeps breaking down.

    Similarly, a Galaxy Nexus or iPhone might look nice, but they don't work as well for ordinary people. If like millions of people you work a rotating shift, you have to buy an app to keep track on a iPhone or Android, but the windows calendar handle it, no problem.

    And that's the point: no problem.

    @Rigged

    Yes, but how many more iPhones and Android phones are there? Surely all those fan boys should have overwhelmed anything that little old Windows Phone can do?

    Nope. Windows Phone users love their phones and are willing to support the brand, while lackluster Android phones don't inspire anybody but geeks who want high specs they never really use.

  • jack - 12 years ago

    HaHa, Ok so this is a poll for which is the best smartphone, not a more popular one, not one that is user friendly, not one that feels better in my hand, not one thats cost efficient, its for the best smartphone. If you ask anyone whats better a Ferrari or a Kia, everyone will say Ferrari because it is. There is no cost comparison, no "well i cant drive a car with that much power", no "well the color of the Kia is nice", so why are they trying to compare phones with low end specs to phones with high end specs. Also, if you can put phones in the poll that aren't out yet then where is the SGSIII ?(Samsung Galaxy SIII for those who are off the smartphone grid). I'm no fan of Apple but you should give credit where its due and the 4s out in the first round to a Huawei, Ha thats a joke. No matter where you look its Android vs Apple for the top spot, there is no Windows vs anyone for any spot, the Windows phones are nice and simple and for the most part smooth operating, but as in the best smartphone, not so much, maybe a chance for a better phone, but not smartphone.

    Microsoft + nonstop tweeting + WP fanboys = rigged poll
    Microsoft + WP fanboys + reality = 2% market share... and dropping

  • (future ex-)iPhone 3gs user - 12 years ago

    Wow, how come the 900 beats 710?

    710 does almost everything the 900 does, but comes with much more convenient price tag.

    So all of you guys got tons of money and can buy the best money can get?

  • BigPuss - 12 years ago

    LAWL! I can't believe this is the outcome of the poll! It seems the Microsoft/Nokia partnership is paying off. And I think this is forecasting what is going to happen in the following months or years. People is closely paying attention to Windows Phone, and they are loving it. The Lumia 900 is surely going to be a huge success.

  • KvnG - 12 years ago

    I am thinking the Nokia Lunina 900 will be the best selling samartphone very soon! Will it??

  • KvnG - 12 years ago

    The 710 beat the Nexus??! When I last checked the Nexus was leading. This like politics. Lol!

  • Ian Too - 12 years ago

    Congratulations Nokia and Microsoft!

    To the inevitable sour grapes, particularly from Android users, I say this:

    Yes Windows Phone users turned out en másse, but then again there's an awful lot less másse Microsoft have to call on, so where were you? Really, why didn't Android users turn up to defend their brand's honour?

    Simple. Android users don't enjoy their phones. Oh I'm sure Galaxy Nexus users do, but the vast majority of Android users have to make do with a much more humble existence. Even the majority of new Android users won't experience what an exalted elite of rich geeky Galaxy fanboys do.

    By contrast, whether you own a Lumia 900, an HTC Titan II or an older machine like my HD7, you have a smooth experience which is centered on the user. The interface is smooth, simple and elegant, and it talks to the users in their own language, instead of making them interpret and memorize icons.

    Later this year, Windows Phone 8 will be released and the last advantages Android has will fall away. Microsoft and Nokia have already beaten you, so what are you going to do?

  • Prometheus Dixit - 12 years ago

    Had a hands on with the 710 and its an awesome phone but, too small for me. Have always used a 4.3 inch screen ever since it came out. So 900 wins the battle for me and eventually it will be the winner.

    P.S : T-Mobile USA, PLEASE get it soon!!!

  • SuperSport - 12 years ago

    The 710 truly is a fantastic little phone, but it will not hold up against the mighty 900. I've had hands on with the 900, and it is unarguably the best SmartPhone to date. The Windows OS combined with the Nokia Design and Build is fantastic.

    Congratulations Nokia! Well Done!
