My child was also from South Korea. He was approximately 12 mos. old when found abandoned, but it was not until he was 19 mos. when we got him. He wanted NOTHING to do with me for more than a year. It was ok for anyone else in the family to help him or do for him, but he didn't want me doing anything with him.
In hindsight I realize that it was because, in his eyes, he had been abandoned by two women (his biological mom and his foster mom). It was a trust issue for him.
Ten months to 30 months of age is probably the worst time to separate a child from his primary caregiver. For my child it created very deep wounds.
