Dwayne Wade is correct. We are all merchants whether it be a non-profit to government, motivated by the money. I understand that he and fellow NBA players are representing our country but its still a business. You can only play sports for only so long.

The country has witnessed many professional athletes file for bankruptcy in the past, why not allow them to make as much money as they can while they have their ability. In comparison, we pay our arm forces to represent our country with benefits, compensation, etc...

They recieve if not more respect when they return to the US. Why not NBA players? They are putting their livelihood on the line (e.g., career, present and future endorsements, etc.) For all the risks there must be some type of reward and/or benefit.

I concur with Wade, pay them some type of currency (e.g., euro, pound, US dollars, something)

I think they should not even train. I think team usa can win without going through training camp!

Actually they have a point. These guys don't necessarily get that much of a break after basketball season is over when they have to commit to the demands of the games. Revenue is made off of merchandise as well, which generates millions for a few big wigs who don't even need to participate. It's not like in the ancient times anymore, it's a business nowadays. Why do the games charge admission for a seat? But now you expect athletes to play basically for what amounts to airplane tickets even though they're making someone a fortune? It's just corporate guilt tripping.

Wow Dwyane. Really, you think you should be paid to represent your country?! Is the prospect of a Gold Medal not enough for you! Grow up or let someone else have a go!!
