I don't think that anyone epitomizes Steeler greatness like Jack Lambert. He had "it". Perhaps his single greatest play was when he knocked I beleive Charlie Waters of the Cowboys on his backside for patting Roy Gerela on the head after a missed field goal. Was a warrior in every sense of the word and probably the most intimidating player I can ever remember.

This is not so hard,Lambert.with Hamm 1b. Linebackers today DON'T play every down as did the 2 Jacks. They were in for every play,be it a run or pass .Where todays LB's play to their best be it run/pass.So the 2 Jacks and let's not forget Andy Russell. These are true MEN OF STEEL.

Tough call between the two Jacks, and Lambert was the stud of a linebacker of his time because he was everywhere (he was Troy before Troy was Troy), but I still have to give the nod to Ham, mostly because he is the lesser known of the two but still made 8 pro bowls and did not allow much breathing room on his side.....ever!

I must admit i have a bit of a man crush on Lambert sorry Hamm. Woods will become a front runner in this vote by the end of his carrer (SHLING SHLING WOLVERINE STYLE)!!!

I'm a 25 year old life long Steelers fan... Kirkland was my favorite player when I was 7, well, 2nd behind Barry Sanders... But I'm educated enough to know that Jack Lambert is a Steelers Deity... well I guess Jack Hamm is too huh? Hehe Damn our Steelers for giving us such difficult choices.

This was the toughest poll, JACK or JACK! Not being biased its Lambert, although he couldn't have been so awesome with out the quite Mr. Ham. They have been a model for teams since then. JACK LAMBERT IS the greatest middle linebacker of all time.

My being from the "Spoiled Steeler Fan " era, I've been blessed to enjoy watching some of the greatest football players of all time. Lambert was sensational,he was everywhere...but I'll always remember seeing Jack Ham ,along with L.C., completely shut down the entire one side of a football field, GAME after GAME. It was mind-boggling...so rare, especially in big games, did we see anybody get yardage on their side. GO STEELERS!

No disrespect to the others on the list as they were all great and Lamar is still playing. Jack Lambert was and always will be the greatest linebacker in Steelers history and I would say Jack Lambert is the greatest middle linebacker to ever play the game....period!!! Jack Lambert is still the face and heart of the Pittsburgh Steelers!!!!!!!!

Just from the collective body of work, Jack Lambert gets my vote. LaMarr Woodley however is in a position to keep climbing up the ladder as the years develop. I don't believe that the up side for Woodley has been reached yet. Ask me again in 7 or 8 years and I might have more difficult decision. I have been a life long Steeler fan starting in the early 70's, through the difficult 80's, and the slightly more encourageing 90's. As we work our way through the second decade of the 2000's I think this franchise is continuing their climb up the historic ladder of success. The one position that has always been prominent in the Steeler organization has been the linebackers (inside and outside). The current crop is no exception. Keep it up Boys.

Are you kidding me?? Jack Lambert is a god!! No one compares!!

I cast my vote for Lambert because he set the bar for all Steeler linebackers that followed. Ferocious, aggressive and relentless are just a few adjectives that describe his style of play. Has there ever been a more intimidating linebacker?
Let's not forget, even for the era, he was undersized his entire career and still went to (I think I'm right on this) 9 straight Pro Bowls during his eleven years in the league.

I believe that Kirkland was the best because he put up the numbers without alot of stars around him. most of the others had a great deffense to make their job easier. Jack Lambert was the most well known because of his attitude! He was great because of the deffensive line, who is actually the real STEEL CURTAIN!
