    Star prince says:
As a 65 year old citizen and having lived all the time in Singapore, I am indignant that 48 men got into trouble with the law. So our clean and squeaky image to the outside world has been tarnished. Moral corruption among men who held high posts in the public sector, army, police, school leaders, high ranking MOE officials and captains of the corporate world and ordinary men.....sigh!
All of us know the world oldest profession is prostitution. The crucial contention is the robust
public outcry about how 48 educated men were conned about that " hardcore " prostitute's age.
Allow me to say that by and large, Singaporeans ( I do not include new citizens because they were not moulded by our educational system ) are a trusting lot. For that, the credit goes to our Government and the type of society they have painstakingly built over the decades.
To put it more simply, some educated men have lost their native sharpness. They foolishly believed the pimp and that so-called under-aged call girl.
" Times have changed " and with the pernicious effects of the availability of pornography over internet and addresses and cellphones being captured on the laptop of the pimp who mastermined this lucrative trade, the 48 men, alas, unwittingly got themselves into trouble.
I pray that their wives and their family members will think coolly and rationally and stand by their men, so to speak.
I believe Mr Subhas Anandan and I hope the other fearless lawyers will defend their clients vigorously for all adults in Singapore will follow the cases very closely.
Which city is clean of vice? What more when we have two casinos in the city state. Who does not know that vices flourish with casinos.
A call girl who serviced 48 customers has sought refuge from media glare and publicity because of the law until the cases are heard , has ignited public outrage.
So what happens if such a prostitute carries a fake passport. Ha! Ha ! Ha!
MY heart goes to all the accused in this case, be cool , calm and collected.

The benchmark age is 18 and this young pros is 17. It's like other offences, say, drug-trafficking, if u traffic below the benchmark quantity, u escape the gallows. It's clear enuff her personal particulars shd not be publicised, regardless that she was a proactive, even aggressive, initiator.
As 4 the 44(+) male clients, the astronomical sums she charges for her services are obvious indicators that she's offering something more than the normal. She's reportedly 'still girlish' which of course she wld be at 17. And the pimp wld likely recommend her as 'a juicy young bird' in his stable. All said, the 44(+) clients were probably looking for all these attributes to pay the huge sums asked by her and, indeed, it wld not be overmuch to say that they wld hv no qualms to request 4 "virgins" as there is a general belief that they rejuvenate the male libido.
The pimp is the chief culprit, undoubtedly. But if he has no client, his business wld go 'kaput'. He certainly shd not be allowed to go scotfree; indeed, in addition to pimping, he shd also be charged with the same offence as his clients, as he reportedly had 1st go with the girl (and other pros he pimps). And he shd be made to pay a heavy and deterrent price for prostituting underaged girls.
As 4 the clients, it's of the essence that the cancer of paedophiles preying on underaged girls is removed in its early stage b4 it reaches terminal stage 4 our society. Any pity for their current plight wld be misplaced unless we want our future underaged daughters and granddaughters to fall victim to their perverted forays. They shd be made a public example of the price a wouldbe paedophile wld pay if he gives in to his perversion.
And, of course, the officers who carried out this operation are to be complimented for their outstanding performance without fear or favour, as some big names are also mentioned.

The ages of consent and prostitution need to be reduced significantly especially with how the youth of today are exposed to the world and maturing so quickly. More like the adults need protection from them.

    1. Why and should there be grounds for someone to defend her besides "she is still young and deserving protection"?!?
After all, she had been willing(unless proof of being compelled to commit/engage vice-activities for a very lucrative sum(s) or undisclosed reasons) and furthermore, our government already has a law in this nation to deter would be offenders from committing such action(s).
So, why don't the law just execute their role(s) by serving and upholding Justice and Equality?!?
    Hmm.........

    2. Both(all) men who lusted by playing roles as pedophile(s) and of course, this prostitute's generous paymasters and the prostitute herself, knowingly and willingly committed herself to such acts had landed themselves into trouble by being vice business partners! PERIOD!!
If they ever had anyone to blame for ensuing undesirable consequences, they should blame upon themselves and if need be, the power of the internet as well, for their overnight rise to fame!

    3. Exposing their identities(including this prostitute) will serve a STRONGER & MUCH MORE EFFICIENT deterrent to all lustful men and women prostitutes alike, regardless young minors or adults, harboring such actions in their thoughts and those already in the making for another similar future episode!
The question is : "When that episode occurs again, what and how will the law, together with society, react to that new episode with different characters in it?!?!
(wishful thinking towards a vice free society on my part)

    4. This will definitely drive prostitutes(supply) fetching/commanding price(s) soaring sky high due to harsher penalties(due to revised law(s) with the Women's Charter) one might say, which I totally agree but at the same time, root of problem(demand) will be driven low too!
By end of the day, let us all get back to basics and think in general.
    Still in doubt?!?!
Do the math and come to your own opinions and conclusions!

    5. Allowing the prostitute chance to repent need not anonymity.
It is matter of on individual's willingness to repent from actions previously conducted and penalized before in a court of law!

Now, need we still think beyond basics and create mixed emotions and thoughts?!?

By not exposing her we are not doing anything to deter future reoccurrence. Exceptions should be made and at the discretion of the Judge. For example, victims of rape cases or in a circumstances where the underage girl was in such a situation against her wishes, her identity should then be protected. However in this case, the underage girl choose to continue and earn money by prostituting herself and knowing that she is protected under the law deserves no leniency. She should be named. It's a choice she made and hence she has to bear the consequences too. This is justice for all.
