When do you think a girl should have sex for the first time?

I honestly believe that people are not ready to have sex until they can truly comprehend the affects of an adult sexual relationship on their minds. I would like to have a completely stable life so that I would be able to handle the consequences that may occur. I do not believe this level of maturity suddenly occurs at a certain age; it depends on the person.
I do not find it acceptable for children to have sex. I think it's appalling for people who are 10-16 years old to engage in sexual activity. During that time, minors are still impressionable; they should wait for their minds to develop so that they don't feel obligated to have sex. I don't want an older person to take advantage of them and distort their views of love. If you are so "in love" with someone, what's the rush to have sex? You two will be together forever, right?.
I won't judge anyone who has sex before the time in which I think they should. However, if someone comes to me for advice, I would tell them my expectations for ME. I'm not significant enough in the world to expect everyone to think like I do. I can't judge anyone for having sex at a young age. I can just hope for the best.

I don't agree with Janelle. You dont have to be 18 or older to be ready. Yes if you do fall pregnant it might affect your education because you also have to look after a child.
Why cant society change to accomodate this situation. I agree education is very important but so does our "biological needs" emotions, the desire for closeness and intimacy etc etc.
Aren't we from a civilised society? we MUST be able to deal with such contingencies?
Nature has deemed us ready when we start our periods! You cannot fight against what is natural. You may advise delaying sex but in NO WAY must this be the rule.

all you girls that put whenever you feel ready are teenagers still or dont have children...im just sayin(22 btw). whenever you feel ready AFTER you turn 18 should be a more acceptable answer. and then you use every birth control imaginable. i truly recommend condoms and the IUD even though it will hurt a little to have it inserted. a lot of girls feel like getting the IUD is older people saying they couldnt handle the responsibility of sex but its making a good future plan. if you get one the second you turn 18, then you know there wont be anything to delay your education becuz of a child that needs you. its almost a guarantee to be able to finish college. i started and graduated college after having my child and trust me it was hard.
