Chickens are much quieter than listening to our neighbourhood dogs bark all day and night. I don’t understand how chickens can lead to noise complaints.
Being able to grow our own food here in Sudbury right in our backyards and raise a couple of chickens could benefit everyone. By eating healthier organically, saving money, perhaps this could help reduce starving homeless people as well as teaching our children about caring for animals and plants. Everyone I know that grows vegetables and has chickens/geese/ducks always have more to share. One year I had so many cherry tomatoes that I was knocking on my neighbours doors to see if they would like some. Same thing goes for eggs ???? sometimes chickens lay so many people give some away to their friends and family so that that don’t go bad.

Its amazing just how hard it is to raise a family, with bylaws. I have chickens,, i was told today after having the chickens for over a year, that i cannot have chickens even though i'm rural, because my land is short of a one hectare limit....

The pole for voting is closed but I would vote a big, resounding "YES!" This change is long overdue. It is rather sad to have to depend on a system that produces eggs at the grocers, a system that would not treat their chickens as well as I would. If I could have my own chickens, they would each be cared for, free ranged and my eggs would travel a short distance from the coop to my fridge. Historically speaking, families have typically been encouraged and expected to produce their own food. We are now removed from food production and the disconnect affect our view about food. This disconnect also affect our food choices. Environmentally speaking, it is really irresponsible to prevent families from growing their own food in this era of climate change, health awareness and environmental distress.

Be careful what you tell people about eggs.
The law states, " You CANNOT transport eggs off your property whatsoever, without having the eggs properly graded at a grading facility, such as in Barrie."
You can sell the eggs from your home as long as the people come to you.
You cannot advertise in local papers either. Only a sign on your property something like, " Farm Fresh Eggs".
