    @ DDROBB

Melo didnt eat Lebron for dinner in that game and if he did what does getting stopping on offense having to do with being DEFENSIVE Player of The Year.

Avery Bradley is easily the best on-ball defender in the NBA. Easily.

This is not popularity survey or name recall-thing or MVP ballot.
It's the player who guards the basket and seals the goal.
Stats should be the overall basis. Then you'll be surprise to see IBAKA on top this year.
    Hand him the trophy, please?
Im not an OKC fan,by the way

How can Lebron be the best on ball defender when Carmelo ate him for dinner recently....... My vote DPOY, goes to Tyson Chandler, and the best on ball defender in the game is a rookie name Shumpert!!!!!! Yes I am a Knicks fan!!!

LeBron,, is DPOY award only focuses on blocks???NO NO NO, there is that intimidation factor (2) blocks, (3) steals, (4)and most important guarding someone limiting his points production, that's what you call guarding,, yes you can block but what if those point guards are not guarded well and keeps on attacking the basket surely those center big guys could easily block their shots...im giving credit ti Mr. Serge Ibaka but....i will go for LeBron on DPOY this year,, guarding any position while playing any position, both side he is the man,, he limits the FG percentages of those who he is guarding......

I think that lebron deserves it. When people think of the DPOY they dont think of on ball defense they think of who can block shots. Lebron can guard everyone, it doesnt matter if they run the point or if they play post. Serge Ibaka though has a very strong case, I would not be suprised at the slightest if he won. Serge Ibaka leads the league in blocks with over 3 per game with less minutes than last year. His per 48min stats is almost six. If Serge Ibaka got the minutes that someone like howard had he could easily average 5 even six bocks a game

How is Kevin Garnett, the best defensive player of his generation, not even on this list?

  • Frinkle - 12 years ago

It still should be Dwight Howard . He was the top rebounder , 3rd in blocking and also had good scoring .

  • KRD - 12 years ago

Luol Deng should have been mentioned.

lebron james deserves both mvp and deffensive player of the year. he is guarding every position 1 through 5, he was the best on ball defender this year , he is top 10 in deffensive rebounds, top 10 in blocks and top 10 in steals. lebron jame is having the best season any player has ever had since michael jordan was in chicago. #fact
